Beautiful piece. Can't wait to use it. Thank you, Robin
Collector and hoarder of vintage home decorative items.
I have always loved old things - I remember digging in an old Victorian dump in Lancashire at my Grannie's. Oh, hours of fun playing wth bits of blue and white china, old glass bottles and the best of all - a large abalone shell, glorious and shimmering mother-of-pearl...I still have it in pride of place on the chimney shelf.
Jumbles sales were my next source of collectibles, buying scarves and floppy hats - it was the Swinging Sixties! Nearby was a large dance hall, and one day, there was an antiques fair advertised. I paid my entrance fee, crept in, totally unsure of what I would find, and was completely knocked out - it was like entering Aladdin's cave! Silver, jewellery, porcelain and chandeliers...everything sparkling and glimmering. I bought a little Victorian sewing basket, lined with green silk, and a lace table cloth. I think the total bill was £4 - about $6, and I still have both.
My little hobby began to expand, and I progressed to having a Saturday stall at the Good Fairy Antiques Market - in Portobello Road, London. I learned quickly, dealing with collectors, foreign visitors with no English, hard-nosed traders and petty thives - I lost a couple of small things, and once had my car towed away! Eventually, I gave up my stall in London, moving to Wiltshire and had units in various markets and centres around the South of England, opening up a large shop, with other dealers renting space and cabinets from me.
However, my other great love - France - was calling, and in 2002, we sold up in England and moved lock, stock and barrel to our little bit of rural France, with the hope of a gentle retirement. Not so! Of course, once the love of antiques and vintage bites, it is impossible to give up... and the circle has turned once more.
I adore seeking out little French items to sell on Etsy. I also adore Etsy - easy to use, reasonable in cost, and a wonderfully friendly space to sell from - and no lugging furniture or boxes of books from market to market for me anymore!
I hope you enjoyed my my story of how my shop came into being - do have a peek at my little offerings, and if there is anything you might like or need any information about, please just get in touch.
I do have a little second shop : https://www.etsy.com/shop/LaCravate - why not take a peek?

I am happy to lay way items with payment within 14 days unless previously discussed to our mutual agreement - I will accept a deposit, and installment payments - let me know what you would like and we'll chat
Unless there is previous agreement, I do like payment within 4 days, but as above, if any problems, just let me know - I am very flexible!.
Taxes - all customs charges and taxes are for the buyer account.
I ship from France: kindly allow appx 3-10 days EU countries, 1-4 weeks USA and everywhere else.
I will ship to anywhere but honestly, I can't list every country. As a guide, the shipping falls into 2 places:
- EU ( all countries in European Union/Community, and Switzerland)
- USA and everywhere else.
I always pack with appropriate materials: sometimes these will include re-used or re-cycled materials - I hate to waste a thing!
I LOVE to give discounts on postal charges for multiple orders.
Insurance and tracking are NOT included - it just is not available on the French postal service for packages under 2 kilos. I can add insurance and tracking for items over 2 kilos or £50 if YOU ASK ME TO QUOTE FIRST. The French postal service, LAPOSTE is very good indeed: efficient, swift and careful with packages. I have no problem with them at all.
Sometimes the postal/security services in your country will delay your package due to security reasons, and so sorry, but I have no control over this delay- we have to accept this with good humour as they are are trying to keep us safe :)
