About

Collecting is my Business!

My appreciation for vintage began at a young age. My parents were buyers and sellers of antique music boxes and player pianos, and I accompanied them on many purchasing expeditions. We lived in London when I was 13, and I was lucky enough to frequent the antique markets there as well.

After college, my husband and I began collecting McCoy pottery and other items that struck our fancy. We would drive to the Pasadena flea market in California, and I would often to go the Art Deco Show in San Francisco. I have a knack for spotting 'gems' that others might overlook.

Over the years, I picked up linens here and there, but didn't really realize I had a collection until 10 years ago when the tablecloths, pillowcases, and towels were all assembled in one place, and the space they were destined for was too small. I knew it was time to share the love and begin sending these lovelies back out into the world.

I have experimented with many laundering techniques, and am happy to advise and share, though some formulas I consider 'trade secrets'. I pride myself in being able to turn something yellowed and dingy into a textile you would be proud to use in your home!

Over the years I've expanded my inventory adding other specialty vintage items including hand-crank pencil sharpeners. (There's nothing quite like turning the sharpener crank and blowing off the shavings from a nice sharp pencil point!) Each sharpener is cleaned, oiled, and serviced prior to sale.

I'm an engineer by degree, a product manager by day, and a vintage aficionado nights & weekends. When it comes to new projects and skills, I love to roll up my sleeves and dig in!

AKA "Large Marge", this lovely lady is my 1952 Kenmore Mangle Iron. I rewired her innards and had her motor pulley re-machined, so she heats & irons like a dream. Marge presses all my vintage linens.

I love vintage textiles-I rarely see the same thing twice! The patterns, fabrics, and workmanship are far superior to items being sold today. All of the items I sell are vintage. I've either inherited the item from a friend/relative or purchased it intending to use it myself.

I am particularly talented at gently removing stains from vintage textiles. My item descriptions will include a notation when items have been laundered. I use un-scented laundry soap wherever possible, line dry each item, and then press without starch. I take great pride in the items I sell and treat them with the same care I do my personal linens.

I've reached my collecting threshold, so it's time for me to share the wealth. I hope you enjoy your purchase!

Returns and exchanges
Almost all vintage textiles have been used. Age and character are shown through small imperfections, flaws, stains, & repairs. I do my very best to photograph and describe the condition of the items I sell. Other sellers may gloss over condition issues. Instead, I opt to err on the overly-descriptive side so there are no surprises when your purchase arrives.

I sell some of my items 'as found'. If I have laundered or mended, this will be noted in the item description. Please read carefully. I am not responsible for flaws previously disclosed in the item description.

In spite of my best efforts, I am only human and I may miss something. If you have a problem with an item you've purchased, I will work with you to resolve the issue to our mutual satisfaction.
Payment
I accept Paypal, Etsy Checkout (credit cards) and Etsy Gift Cards. If you see something you love, and you're unable to pay immediately, please send me a message and I'll do my best to work with you to find a payment method or layaway option that works for both of us.
Shipping
I typically ship 3x per week via first class US Mail. In most cases I am able to post your item within 24 hours. Packages over 15.9 ounces will usually be shipped via Priority Mail within the US.

**Insurance is an additional charge. ** I cannot be responsible for items lost in transit unless you purchase insurance. Please convo me or include a message during checkout if you wish to purchase insurance. I will invoice you separately. Most packages cost less than $1.50 to insure.

I love international buyers! Underestimated shipping costs have proven to be a problem, so I over-estimate slightly to ensure I don't lose money. If actual shipping is less than my estimate, I round up to the nearest dollar and refund any overages beyond $1. (this overage policy is the same for domestic & international buyers).

If you see a particular item you want, and need a precise shipping estimate, I am happy to change the item to a reserved listing and work up a shipping cost for your locale.

If you are in the local Portland Area, please indicate in the 'message to seller' that you would like to arrange for local pickup. I will refund your shipping charges once we work out a mutually agreeable pickup location and I 'deliver' your item.

Please be sure your shipping address is correct; shipping a returned package will require an additional fee.

Once you have received your item and are happy with your purchase, please leave me positive feedback through Etsy.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am a proud member of the Etsy Vintage Team, whose members are certified after undergoing a thorough review process to ensure they maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and customer service. Our goal is to promote authentic vintage goods and fair dealing.

I have many many items to sift through and sell. If you have a particular textile you need or collect, please convo me. It's highly likely I have it and just haven't been able to photograph it yet. I'm happy to create a reserved listing for you!

I complete customs documents as required by law with exact purchase price and merchandise category. Customs fees, VAT, etc. are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I advise you verify import duties before purchase. One convenient online calculator is: www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation

For those shoppers looking to hold/reserve an item: Reserved items for returning customers will not require a deposit. For new customers, I typically require a 20% non-refundable deposit to reserve an item. Items will be reserved/held for 72 hours, after which the deposit is forfeited. Reserved/Custom items not purchased after 72 hours will be moved back into general store inventory and available for purchase by the general public.
