About

I somehow fell into this. I had no idea I would fall in love so quickly or so completely, but here I am, two decades since my first venture into vintage, and I still love every bit of it.

Oddly enough, history wasn't my favorite subject -- so dull having to memorize what war happened when, following a curriculum someone else deemed important. Now, I can't get enough of it. I love the parts I get to play...detective, scientist, explorer/adventurer, curator, appreciator, & preservationist. Each little object I find sends me down a rabbit hole through time, scouring antiquarian archives for clues & examining each piece with microscopic intensity until its secrets are revealed. Maybe I'm just the nose-in-a-book nerd I've always been, but I think this is great fun:)

There is so much beauty in the world. We come from a rich history of incredible artisans and talented craftspeople. I love finding these forgotten parts of history, the pieces worth preserving. And I love each and every one of you for giving me this grand adventure. Because I can seek & discover to my heart's content, send these little treasures off to their loving new homes, and then begin the adventure all over again. So thank you, from the bottom of my vintage-loving heart <3

Thank you for visiting Vintagewise ♥

I'm Maya, the finder, photographer, researcher, shipping engineer, etc...whatever you need here, I'm your go-to gal. It's never a dull moment, and I enjoy all of it, from finding great vintage to making sure you get your item quickly and nicely wrapped. I believe kindness is the best policy, and I never forget for a moment that without happy customers I wouldn't be able to do what I love.

Questions about your order?
Please if you have any problems with your order.
I hope you'll love your Vintagewise purchase, but just in case, if something doesn't fit, if it's the wrong color -- whatever the reason, I'm happy to accept returns as long as the item is mailed back in the original, unused condition within one week of receipt (for buyers in the EU, please contact me within 14 days of receipt if you wish to return your item).

Due to the delicate nature of antique jewelry, all fine jewelry returns must be sent back fully insured and securely wrapped, and any attached security tags must still be intact in order to receive a full refund. If the security tag has been removed or tampered with, a 25% restocking fee may be charged.

Please note shipping costs aren't refundable unless I've made a mistake in the listing, and if that ever happens, I'll reimburse you for the shipping cost plus the full purchase price as soon as I've received the item.

I carefully and lovingly pack each item, and so far they've all arrived safe and sound, but just in case, all items are insured for the full purchase price including shipping. If by chance your item arrives damaged, please notify me within three days of receipt, and please be sure to save all of the packaging, including the shipping box and packing materials. Photographs of the damage and packaging materials will be required in order to file the insurance claim.
Shipping
One of the many things I love about vintage is how it's good for the earth, so it's important to me that my packaging be earth-friendly too. I re-use shipping boxes and packing supplies, but only if they are clean and sturdy, and I keep all plastic use to a minimum (mostly just tape and {clean and re-used} bubble wrap if necessary). For jewelry and other small items, I primarily use new boxes, although all of the shipping boxes, tissue paper, and kraft paper I purchase are made from post-consumer recycled content (and can be recycled again).

All orders are shipped within one business day, and insurance is included in the shipping cost. At check-out, you'll have the option of choosing your preferred shipping method and delivery speed. The tracking number for your package will be automatically emailed to you after your order has shipped.

For international buyers, it's important to know your local government may charge additional taxes or fees on your purchase. These are not charged by Vintagewise or included in the purchase price, so before you purchase, please be aware that any taxes, Customs charges, duties, and/or collection fees, if any, are the responsibilty of the buyer.

I love what I do and I love getting to share it with you...thank you for stopping by, and thank you most especially for your appreciation of these beautiful old things ♥
Privacy
ETSY is an online marketplace, made up of over 1 million individual shops. Information you provide to Etsy for transaction purposes is governed and stored by Etsy. As a seller on Etsy, I am bound to and abide by their Policies. If you have questions relating to the way Etsy uses your information, please refer to the ETSY PRIVACY POLICY here: -

www.etsy.com/legal/privacy

:: INFORMATION I COLLECT ::

As an Etsy shop owner, my privacy policy is very simple: I only use your personal information to fulfill your order, to answer any questions you may have, and to comply with legal obligations (e.g. for tax accounting purposes).

I personally do not collect data on my customers, but when you contact me through Etsy's messaging system, I receive your username and email address, and when you purchase something from my shop, Etsy provides me with a record of your transaction which includes your username, email address, payment method, and mailing address (and sometimes a phone number, if you've given one to Etsy). Like all sellers on Etsy, I do not have access to your credit card number or payment account details as this information is securely processed by Paypal or Etsy Payments, depending on the payment method you choose.

:: WHY I NEED YOUR INFORMATION and HOW I USE IT ::

Of course, without your name and address, I can't mail your item to you, so it's important I have access to some personal information. Please know though that outside of legal or tax obligations, I never use your personal information for any reason other than fulfilling your order or answering any questions you may have. I don't keep a mailing list. I never send marketing emails, spam, or unsolicited messages. I respect your privacy, just as I would want mine respected also.

Etsy will sometimes send emails featuring shops and listings you've previously browsed -- I personally do not have control over these emails because they are sent by Etsy, but if you've looked around my shop before or browsed similar items, it's possible my Etsy shop may be included in some of these emails. I don't send these to you -- I never solicit my customers, and I never know when, where, or to whom they are sent because that is managed by Etsy's database. It may be helpful to know that you can always opt out of receiving these emails or choose specifically which type you would like to receive by clicking on the "You" icon located in the upper right corner at the top of this page. From there, click on "Account Settings" and then the "emails" tab to update your preference.

:: INFORMATION SHARING and DISCLOSURE ::

When I mail your item, I share your name and address with the US Postal Service or shipping company, and when I purchase postal insurance for your item, I share your name, address, and pertinent order information with a third party insurance company {Shipsaver}. Unless it is required by law, aside from this I do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose any personal information to any third party.

:: DATA RETENTION ::

For tax accounting purposes, I am legally required to keep a record of all sale transactions for a period of seven years. Other than this, I do not keep any customer records or personal data. Etsy maintains a database for each shop which includes a history of all transactions and customer correspondence, and while I do not personally retain or manage this database, I am able to access the specific data for my shop through Etsy as long as my Etsy shop remains open.

:: YOUR RIGHTS ::

As a consumer, you have the right to access and receive a record of any personal information I have for you. You may contact me through the information provided below, and upon request, I will be happy to send you a screenshot or printed copy of any transactions you've had with my shop. You also have the right to request that your personal data be changed, revised, removed, or restricted from use, but please note this must be requested directly through Etsy because sellers do not have the ability to change the personal information maintained in Etsy's database. You may contact Etsy at Etsy.com/help, and if you wish to raise a concern about Etsy's or my use of your personal information, you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

:: HOW TO CONTACT ME ::

For the purpose of compliance with the GDPR / EU data protection law, I, Maya Lowder, am the data controller for my shop, and I will only use your personal information as detailed above. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this privacy policy or for any other Etsy-related inquiry, you may contact me at any time through Etsy's Message System or by emailing me at: vintagewise |!at| gmail.com.
Inquiries may also be sent by regular mail to: Maya Lowder, 526 Westcliffe Way, Greenville SC 29611. Please note this is my home address and not a retail shop; for insurance reasons, much of my inventory, including all fine jewelry, is securely stored off-premise, so if you wish to arrange a visit, please contact me first.
