Announcement    We are the original, worlds first creator of the Mixtape Vinyl Record and as this industry has exploded since 2015, we have continued to make quality our first priority by developing IP that has raised the standards of what a lathe cut record can sound and look like; all orders are made in house by us and we cut no corners. We encourage you to compare what we offer before purchasing as most sellers on ETSY use a service known for low quality.

Ideally, you will order all the items you are interested in at the same time (put everything in your cart before checking out) and you will have your songs ready before you order (see the calculator for adding up your songs in the listings for vinyl). Take your time! We keep the listed inventory low in case there is a media post about us and we re-stock daily.

We PROMISE the ordering process is simple + straightforward but --- because we leave no room for error and our focus is PREMIUM sound and presentation --- this process WILL require some of your time. Delays are avoided by reading the info we provide and letting us know of any questions you have early in the process.

We are in the studio from 8 AM-11 PM (in two shifts) every day so we are standing by to answer questions before or after the order! NOTE: we are in the process of overhauling our ETSY site so some listings may be confusing until all the updates are in place but we are here for questions.

Since 2015, we've offered the best-sounding LATHE CUT (stereo hi-fi records) on the highest quality vinyl (180g) with the fastest turnaround times in the world. We are a small full-time team based in Portland, Oregon and we have refined the lathe cut record on EVERY level from sound to presentation. We were the first in the world to bring this concept to market (on Indiegogo and then ETSY) and unlike most of the stores now on ETSY, we make and ship your record from our own studio***.

While we do not take returns* If your record is damaged in transit or lost by the carrier, we give priority to getting a replacement out right away and free of charge. If you are unhappy with the record for any reason let us know - we love this work and will go the extra mile to make sure you do too.

All orders are made with and/or include

+ perfect lead in groove and locking lead out groove (so your record plays perfectly from start to finish
+ 180g vinyl
+ archive quality poly paper inner sleeves
+ sturdy jackets (not paper foldovers) in plain or customized options that will never fade, show scratches or tear
+ center labels that will not peel, show scratches, peel or bubble (forever) with ink that will never fade
+ protective outer sleeve
+ highest-quality mailers on the market to prevent damage during transit
+ Priority shipping (free in US)

--- and, most importantly ---

we have a seasoned, well respected audio engineer on our team who masters every song for vinyl on every record to include:
+volume matching between songs
+ balanced eqs
+ perfect song transitions

We can make any color, design, picture, image on the record by request. If you want a specific color that is not in the listings, let us know by sending a custom order request on ETSY. A custom color record ranges from $140-$250.

Please see our reviews to learn more about us.

NOTES ON GETTING THE BEST SOUND: the shorter your record the better the sound. While most people do not notice a difference between a 16 min and a 22-minute record, some do so if the sound is REALLY important consider submitting 19 minutes or less per side.

Engineers/Recording Artists: PLEASE DO NOT MIX FOR VINYL - send the songs to us how you want them to SOUND and our engineer will contact you if he has any questions.
----
Custom Artwork (jackets and labels):

Please note we are NOT graphic artists (we just know how to use Photoshop Elements) and our custom jackets and labels look good but are not commercially perfect. We offer custom jackets and custom labels to go with the vinyl and while we are not graphic artists and not able to do complex artwork, we will do our best and send you proofs to make sure are happy before we print.

How it all works:

In a nutshell: you'll send us your legally purchased digital song files (or your playlist if we are buying the songs for you) and we'll ship you a custom vinyl record**. The details on how it all works are in every listing and the FAQS. We cannot use streaming files so please make sure the songs you want are available as mp3 on Amazon or m4a in Itunes (Bandcamp is an additional source we highly recommend - in which case please select .wav files).

Every order is given a link to our Hot Sheet where you will be able to check on the status of your order at any time.

We STRONGLY advise that you learn how to handle a vinyl record before opening your order. We include a care sheet but we see MANY social media posts that show mishandling of vinyl - we want your record to last for decades and hundreds of plays so please make sure you do a quick search on how to hold a record (our listing pics give an example). Quick summary: do not ever touch the groove of any record; make sure you ONLY ever touch the very edges!

Thank you for visiting our ETSY store!

* Please see the reviews we have received re: our audio quality and our customer service. We encourage buyers to compare us to competitors before purchasing!
We aim for perfection so if you are not happy with your order just let us know.

** We support musicians and ask that you do too! All song files must be legal downloads, no bootlegs, or pirated songs! We cannot use streaming service files so please make sure your songs are in mp3, m4a or .wav file format.

*** We charge more because we only offer premium and our markup is much less than those shops who outsource to kunaki.com.

Frequently asked questions

Pricing and options

Every order is a custom product but if you have any special requests or specific questions regarding a short run or one-off do not hesitate to contact us here on Etsy after reviewing the listings we have available.

We are more expensive than our competitors because our focus is on the highest possible quality; we cut no corners. (We also do everything in house while competitors send the orders to an outside vendor). Our team includes a seasoned audio engineer who masters every song for vinyl on every record who listens to the record in real-time before it is shipped. We also only sell/offer: real jackets (not paper foldovers), 180g vinyl, free PRIORITY shipping (US) in the sturdiest mailers on the market.

My playlist exceeds your MAX side length limit, what are my options?

Consider ordering a double record set of 1 two-sided and 1 one-sided if you don't want to shorten your playlist. Spoken word records can be cut up to 26 minutes.

I make my own music and would like to purchase a short run (1-20) Can you do this and is there a price difference?

Yes. We offer short runs through our parent company. If you are a recording artist/record label and would like a short run, contact here on ETSY and we can discuss your options.

We also offer an On Demand service, where we fulfill orders and ship as they come in.

Please note the price is much less than a mixtape vinyl but we cannot compete with pressed vinyl prices. These are 180g and made in real-time.

What files do you accept? Can I send you my Spotify/Apple Music playlist? What sounds best?

We cannot use Spotify or Apple Music playlists; we need actual song files.
See "Can you buy the songs for me?".
Or you can send us the song files (directions are on the receipt).
1) Audio Formats we accept:
iTunes has the best sounding files .m4a is the filetype.
Amazon and Google Play will sell you .mp3 files, which will also work.
Even better that .m4a files are un-compressed files like:
.wav
.aif
HOWEVER; please DO NOT convert mp3 or m4a files to .wav, .aif. The conversion will NOT improve the sound of your mp3 or m4a files. While file types are important, the quality of a record is most determined by the production quality more than the file type!
THE SHORTER THE RECORD, THE BETTER?LOUDER THE SOUND. Lathe cuts are lower in volume.

I just found you and need it really fast! Is this possible?

Please let us know where you are and when you would like your order to ship by and we will let you know if we will be able to make it a Rush Order for a fee of $35-75.

Express shipping is also an option and ranges from $25-45.

While we have not yet had any delays domestically, there is always a chance that can change so please note we CAN guarantee a ship by date but not a delivery date.

Care instructions

DO NOT touch the record grooves, ever! If you are creating a DIY label be sure and cover the vinyl before writing on the label.

ALWAYS handle the record at the edges, please do a search online for how to hold/handle vinyl records if you are at all unsure!

Make sure and store your vinyl properly and that your record player needle is clean. If you have an automatic record player make sure and put it on manual when playing your custom vinyl record.

What is the difference between a sleeve and a jacket?

Many people confuse the SLEEVE for the JACKET.
The sleeve slips over the vinyl and into the jacket.

Anatomy of a record:
vinyl (record)
label (center "sticker")
sleeve
jacket
(we also include an outer sleeve that slips over the jacket)

Our jackets are sturdy cardboard, not folded paper.

Do you cut 45 RPM?

Yes! While 33 1/3 RPM is the standard we can cut your record at 45 RPM. Please note: 45 RPM means a much shorter playlist. The max side length for a 12" @ 45 RPM is 14:30 per side. Write us before or after you order (45 RPM is $5-10 less and is refunded after we make sure the songs do not exceed the 14:30 per side).

Can you purchase the songs for me?

YES, we can but ONLY if the songs are available in iTunes, Amazon or Bandcamp. You will want to make sure they are before sending us your playlist. You don't need to have Itunes account to check the availability of the songs. Itunes have the best files (m4a but mp3s are totally fine).

See the listing "ADD ON SONG FILES" for details. It is very important that you send us your playlist just like the example in the listing.

PLEASE NOTE: we cannot use APPLE MUSIC FILES so the list needs to be checked on Itunes (not Apple Music).

I know NOTHING about vinyl or tech and am lost. Can you help me?

Yes.
Even a seasoned vinyl collector would not know how to order from us the first time so the steps are laid out for anyone who wants to simply order a custom vinyl record for themselves or as a gift.
Every listing offers a breakdown of the steps you'll need to take and we are happy to buy the songs for you if you like (please see Add On...Song Files).
We've also set it up so the default listings are standard (33 1/3 RPM) and your vinyl will play on all record players.
Because every order will take some of your time we ask that you take a few minutes to read the listing descriptions so we can better answer your specific questions. We are a full-time team dedicated to creating the best sounding custom records on the market.
