VIVIandKAY

Hello Vivi & Kay lovers! I am the owner and creator of everything Vivi & Kay! I am a stay at home mom/daughter (I'll get to that) and now a happy small business owner! I am engaged to my other half Matthew and I get to be the mother of the 3 most beautiful little humans, who just so happen to be super awesome Vivi & Kay models! My oldest Ava is 8 and I also have 4 year old twins, Carter and Harper!

Four years ago, my family and I moved in with my dad so I could take care of him. He's a handsome 60 years young who unfortunately has suffered from MS since 1992 and over the past 9 years his mobility has declined. He is unable to do many things on his own and so that's where I come in! When he doesn't have an LNA/nurse/aid here, I'm here for him. Sometimes it's tough with toddlers running around and everyday chores that need to be done. But he is seriously the sweetest, kindest soul I know and I would do anything for him! He never complains, and is always so appreciative for all the help he gets!

A few years back, my grandmother (Kay), who myself and the rest of her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren call "Memmie", gave me her beloved sewing machine. My mom has her own sewing business making curtains. I would watch her sew at times as a kid but never really was interested in learning. So the sewing machine Memmie gave me sat for a year or so. And then I started falling in love with anything and everything crafty and DIY.

The Christmas of 2014, I wanted to make gifts for family members. So I broke out my sewing machine, read through the manual, watched a few YouTube videos and BAM, I was sewing and HOOKED!

The following Easter I wanted to make headbands for my two girls to match their dresses. And that's when I sewed up my first turbans. I instantly became OBSESSED! I sent pictures to my close girl friends who loved them just as much and that's when I knew my new found hobby was what I wanted to be when I grew up!

So in September of 2015, Vivi & Kay was born! I named my business after my two grandmothers. The most beautiful, inspiring women I have ever met. My Gramma, Vivian, who was nicknamed Vivi, passed away in 2001. She was always trying to make people laugh. When ever she would tell somebody her last name she would say, "Bayer, like the aspirin, only I give headaches!" And it always made that person smile! I miss her and think about her everyday and I know she would be proud of me!

My Memmie, Kay, is pretty much the reason Vivi & Kay exists. Had she not given me her sewing machine, I'm not sure I would have ever gotten one. So I am so thankful she did! She passed away in 2016 and was quite honestly a breath of fresh air! She saw the good in everyone and looked for the positive in everything. She cried when I told her of my business and the name I had chosen and so I know I made her proud!

You may wonder when I have the time to run a business while chasing toddlers, doing housework, and taking care of my dad. Well I don't, but I somehow manage to make time because I wanted/needed to do something for myself. Creating pieces for you and your little ones (and for me and my little ones too haha), is my serenity! So thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support! It is so amazing!
