She's Crafty

I have always been pretty crafty and have had a love of arts and crafts, but I never knew what to do with that love.

In 2014, my family and I moved to Vermont and I became a stay at home mom to a then 18 month old. That time, at home with my daughter, allowed me to experiment with different art mediums and and as my daughter grew, so did our craft projects.

Fast forward to 2019, when my daughter came home from the 1st grade and taught me how to do a stick weaving, that she learned in art class.... I loved it, but I wanted a little something more! I remembered back to a time when I was in elementary school art class and we made our own cardboard looms, and learned some basic weaving techniques. The memory of that had always stuck with me and I figured, it would be a fun thing that I could do with my daughter. So, I made cardboard looms for the both of us and we started weaving!

However, It wasn't until Covid hit and lockdown started that I decided, I needed to find something to do that would keep me sane. That's when I started weaving for real! I made some pieces for friends and family and then I started getting requests for custom orders!

On June 1, 2020 I started an Instagram page (@VTArtsAndCrafts), where I could share the things I made and get some feedback. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and that is what lead me to create and open an Etsy Shop!
