Soy Courtney, una artista multidisciplinaria radicada en Richmond, Virginia, aunque crecí en los bosques y suburbios del norte de Virginia. Mi amor por las manualidades comenzó desde muy joven, tejiendo bufandas y gorros en un telar de plástico en la primaria. Para la preparatoria, vendía tejidos y experimentaba con jabones, velas y joyería.
Con los años, fui perfeccionando mis pasiones hasta convertirlas en lo que realmente amo: la joyería, las velas y el arte con telarañas. Mi fascinación por la orfebrería me llevó a arriesgarme y a inscribirme en un curso de platería en Washington D. C., allá por el verano de 2021. Al completar este curso, obtuve el control y la libertad creativa que ansiaba para crear joyas de plata esterlina. De vez en cuando también me gusta combinar piezas de acero inoxidable.
Mi obra se inspira profundamente en la sutil magia de la naturaleza y el flujo de la vida y la muerte. Encuentro belleza en la transformación, como tomar algo tan simple como una telaraña, un hueso o una flor y transformarlo en algo simbólico que perdure para siempre. Mi estética se inclina hacia el gótico romántico, el luto, los estilos vintage y los temas metafísicos.
La sostenibilidad es fundamental en mi proceso. Creo en aprovechar lo que la tierra ya ofrece: materiales naturales, recuperados y cuidadosamente seleccionados. Cada artículo está hecho con la intención de que dure toda la vida. Cada pieza tiene un significado para quien la usa o la exhibe. Sobre todo, quiero que quienes apoyan mi trabajo se sientan conectados con lo que reciben, ya sea una joya, una pieza conmemorativa, velas o una obra de arte enmarcada. Espero que cada creación supere sus expectativas y se convierta en un tesoro para siempre.
I'm Courtney, a multidisciplinary artist based in Richmond, Virginia, though I originally grew up in the forests and suburbs of Northern Virginia. My love for crafting started early, weaving scarves and hats on a plastic loom in elementary school. By high school, I was selling knitted goods and experimenting with soaps, candles, and jewelry.
Over the years, I refined my passions into what I truly love: jewelry, candles, and spiderweb art. My fascination with metalsmithing led me to take a leap of faith and enroll in a silversmithing class in D.C. around in the summer of 2021. By completing this class, it gave me the control and creative freedom I craved to create sterling silver jewelry. Occasionally I like to blend in stainless steel pieces as well.
My work is deeply inspired by the subtle magic of nature and the ebb and flow of life and death. I find beauty in transformation, like taking something simple as a spiderweb, a bone, or a bloom, and turning into something that is symbolic and will last a life time. My aesthetic leans into romantic gothic, mourning, vintage styles, and metaphysical themes.
Sustainability is a key part of my process. I believe in using what the earth already offers: natural, reclaimed, and thoughtfully sourced materials. Each item is made with intention that is meant to last a lifetime. Each piece holds meaning for the one who wears or displays it. Above all, I want those who support my work to feel connected to what they receive, whether it's a piece of jewelry, a memorial piece, candles, or framed work of nature. I hope every creation exceeds your expectations and becomes something you treasure forever.
