Re-imagining New Things From Old Stuff.
W3bch1ck.com is one woman’s dream of making beautiful things that make people smile. My name is Kristy Rhoades and I am a web application developer by day, which is where my “web chick” handle was born. With that paying the bills I can spend my free time repurposing vintage textiles such as seed, feed, grain & flour sacks. My initial line of repurposed purses was called The Up^Cycles, I have since expanded my product line to include pillows and wall hangings. Each item is individually designed and crafted with careful attention to detail.
Most of my vintage textiles date from the mid-1900’s, a time when agricultural textiles such as feed, grain, seed and flour sacks were commonly used & re-used in a variety of ways - I grew up sleeping under feed sack sheets made by my great-grandmother during the great depression. In my shop you might also find aprons, skirts and children’s clothing made from a variety of vintage textiles such as pillowcases, tablecloths and handkerchiefs.
My work has been featured in Birds & Blooms magazine and a recent Better Homes & Gardens book. Please check out my website for more photos & history!

I have been sewing since I was 6 years old, my mother is an extremely talented seamstress & quiltmaker. My great-grandmother raised a family during the great depression, from her I learned the value of re-use long before recycling was in vogue!
