Hello to all,

My name is Ady Shapira and I'm a ceramist and a ceramic designer and I mainly work with porcelain.
I live and work in Moshav Avichail, Israel (a small and serene village just next to the Mediterranean Sea) with Oren, my man and my apprentice :)

I'm a graduate (BFA) from the Department of Ceramic and Glass Design at "The Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design" in Jerusalem (1999-2002).
At the end of my studies (2003), I opened my atelier and worked with a boutique lighting manufacturer, designing and creating porcelain lighting objects.
By the year 2006, I decided that it was about time to open my own brand and launched "Wapa Studio".

Since I opened "Wapa Studio", I joined a ceramic cooperative called "Altogether 8". We are a group of 11 professional ceramists and together we run two galleries for contemporary ceramics, one in Jerusalem that operates for 22 years now. We opened in 2012 our second gallery in Tel Aviv/Jaffa flea market.

In 2012, I started working with "Rosenthal", the renowned German porcelain manufacturer, designing for them a candle holder collection.
In 2013, I designed for "Hutschenreuther", also a historical porcelain manufacturer, now owned by "Rosenthal", a series of porcelain containers and vases.

I would like to sum it up and say that I'm very passionate about my work and about working in porcelain particularly. My goal is to create contemporary, high quality hand crafted porcelain pieces and to carry on researching, learning and exploring the fine craft of ceramics.
