  • I search for gently used books with cool retro covers. Like these Nancy Drew illustrations from the 1960s.
  • Besides the Hardy Boys, I discovered Trixie Belden, Donna Parker, the Dana Girls, and Nurse Cherry Ames.
  • After I cut the pages out of a book, I reinforce the spine. Then I choose the perfect fabric to complement the cover.
  • My newest products are self-closing tablet sleeves made from gently used jeans and other cool fabrics.
  • I use all kinds of tools and goops to deconstruct old stuff and reconstruct my creations.

Transforming unloved stuff into treasures

Books are one of my passions, so it's no accident that they eventually found a way into my studio. I browse bookstores for old hardbacks with cool graphic designs or kitschy illustrations on the cover. They make perfect tablet and Kindle cases! I enjoy choosing the perfect fabric to match each cover.

When I travel, I search out fellow "upcyclers." I've met artists in Taos, New Mexico and Eugene, Oregon. I describe their work and my own experiments on my blog, http://creativeupcycling.blogspot.com.

My friends and family -- especially my husband -- are great supporters of my work. They give great feedback and are often willing to accompany me on one of my "treasure hunts." At home, I enjoy the assistance of my 3 black cats.

Was*Now creations are hand-made using mostly cast-off items I've found at thrift stores. Like the rest of us, most objects appreciate having their life extended and finding a home with someone who cares. I hope you're that someone!

If you are not happy with your purchase, please contact me and I will be happy to exchange your item or give you a full refund.
Payment
I prefer Paypal and credit cards through Direct Checkout, but I will be happy to accept a check or money order.

If payment is made by check or money order, the item will not be shipped until the money is received and cleared. If payment is made through paypal, the item will ship as soon as that payment is cleared.
Shipping
Items are shipped via First Class Mail whenever possible within 5 days or ordering unless otherwise stated, and they usually arrive within 7-10 working days (within the U.S. only). Custom orders take longer to ship, and shipping to areas outside the U.S. vary widely.

Please contact me if you have any special needs or concerns regarding shipping, including rush orders via Priority or Express mail, insurance, or international shipping times.

If it the actual shipping cost is $1 or more LESS than my estimate, I will refund you the difference.
