Frequently asked questions

ADDITIONAL SHIPPING & DELIVERY INFORMATION

SHIPPING
Please contact me if:

• You want to enquire about combined shipping.
• You wish to purchase extra insurance.

If I cannot ship to your country, you will be refunded and the sale cancelled.

• I will NOT mark 'gift' on Customs forms. Misrepresenting contents of a shipment is illegal. It is your responsibility to pay any import fees on a purchase.

DELIVERY
To minimise lost mail, I ship with tracking numbers.

• Parcels may require a signature on delivery. It is your responsibility to collect a missed delivery from your Post depot.
• If a non-collected parcel is returned to me after the allocated time and you want a re-delivery, this will be at extra cost to you.
• Due to the pandemic, deliveries may take longer. Please be patient!

PACKAGING AND THE ENVIRONMENT

As you have already made the best decision to buy vintage and not new, it is so important to Wassail Antiques to continue to make as little impact on our planet as possible!

• I currently have a small stock of bubble-padded mailers remaining. Once they are used up, I will switch to entirely recyclable and home compostable ones.
• I use compostable paper tape, natural twine, and recycled tissue paper.
• Any plastic tape, bubble-wrapping or 'other' plastic packaging that does get used, has been donated, or salvaged from other parcels, and NEVER purchased new.
• I use refillable ink cartridges to print order forms.
• Wassail Antiques encourages you to reuse as much of your packaging as possible, or recycle/compost/dispose of it correctly!

GIFT WRAPPING

All items come gift wrapped as standard, and include an extra free gift, which will be entirely unique to you! Perhaps a vintage photo, 1920s French seed label, or a snippet from an antique newspaper... it's just a little something to say 'thank you' for supporting this small business and choosing not to buy mass-produced! :)

• If you require a particular gift message, please let me know when you place your order!

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES

All sales are final. Wassail Antiques does not accept returns or exchanges.

• Antique and vintage items have been previously worn, used, and loved - and are all sold 'as is.'
• Sometimes there will be blemishes, tarnishing, or signs of gentle wear and tear. We aim to note as many details of each item as possible, and apologise for the occasional oversight.
• Please be aware that colours may differ depending on monitor screens.
• We cannot predict how vintage & antiques will wear, as they are especially delicate items; thus, we cannot be held responsible if the item becomes damaged after it has been received by the buyer.
• Please check all aspects of the listing carefully, to ensure the item is suitable before you commit to purchasing.

LAYWAYS AND RESERVES

LAYAWAY
Layaway is available on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me to set up a payment plan.
• All layaway payments are non-refundable, and if a payment is late, layaway may be terminated.

RESERVES
If you would like to reserve an item, please contact me. Please bear in mind that by reserving an item you commit to buying that item.
• A non-refundable deposit may be required for holds.

CLOTHING & TEXTILES

• Due to age/fragility, clothing and textiles are not always laundered unless stated so in the main description. I do all I can to minimise any odour (which may be from extended storage, age, use & discolouration, or a combination of these), but please expect there may be some vintage scent still lingering.
• Measurements are taken whilst the garment is flat, and the number then doubled (where necessary) to give the sizing.
• Do check all measurements carefully; ideally against a similarly-cut garment which you own that fits you well. Vintage & handmade clothes can NOT be precisely represented in today's modern sizing.
• Where possible, clothes are modelled -- or displayed on a UK size 8-10 mannequin (and unpinned unless otherwise stated).
