Announcement
All of the meticulously handmade exotic wood urns, jewelry boxes, and pill boxes listed here are original works of art/designs made by me, Eugene Watson. They are in stock and available for immediate shipping.
To identify a wood, click on the wood name in the drop-down list and the corresponding photo will appear.
I design and make all of my unique sculptural boxes using the finest exotic and domestic hardwoods available. The finish I use has been refined over the past 30 years to be durable, beautiful, and smooth to the touch.
Many of my designs are being knocked off here on Etsy. Make no mistake, if you buy from me, you are purchasing an original work of art by an American artisan (30 years full time making boxes) made in Colorado, USA.
All of my designs are original, and copy protected.

5 out of 5 starsSo sorry for the delay in reviewing this! I thought I already had. I love this pill organizer. Beautiful craftsmanship, and just plain easier on the eyes and convenient compared to the ugly plastic ones. Professionally packed and shipped with care as well. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 starsLove this! Exactly what I was looking for, and it even has a pretty (I'm guessing) mother of pearl inset in the center. Useful, well-made -- couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 starsAfter mixing up my medications terribly one week when using an old plastic pill box, I decided to treat myself to one I would love using. I am so thrilled with this gorgeous box that feels so smooth, is sturdy and is nice to look at. I love the contrast of the B.E. Maple and Shedua wood, and the abalone inlay is such a nice touch. It's so pretty, you can leave it out and about and it doesn't look at all 'medical' but more of a work of art. Thanks so much for elevating the not-so-fun task of pill-taking to something I can look forward to.

5 out of 5 starsIt's beautiful! It absolutely exceeds my expectations! The craftmanship is wonderful, the magnets are strong and the movement of the lid is very satisfying. It felt like a splurge of a purchase but I'm so glad I did, I'm sure I'll use it for decades! I have no complaints! The lettering and the finish are great. It holds quite a lot and has a nice solid feel.

5 out of 5 starsThis was purchased as a gift and I was so impressed I came back and purchased one for myself. Beautiful wood and inlay. I love that I don’t have my pill bottles on display on a corner of my countertop anymore.

Eugene Watson, maker of sculptural boxes and urns.
I began Watson Woodworks in 1990 in an old 1200 square foot loft just outside of Chinatown in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to woodworking, I designed electronic components for the black boxes in military airplanes. My interest in woodworking evolved from my childhood and was influenced by my father and grandfather. I chose to pursue woodworking over an electronics career because I am able to express my creativity with my hands and design innovative pieces in a relatively short period of time. I am now recognized nationally and internationally for my boxes.
My boxes involve the use of very traditional tools such as bench chisels, planes, and files, to high tech modern machinery. All of my designs utilize my engineering skills in math, geometry, trigonometry, drawing, etc. I machine my own metal parts and utilize leather and shell in many of my designs. The woods I use are exotic and domestic figured hardwoods of the highest quality.

Care instructions
The finish I use is a CAB acrylic lacquer from Sherwin Williams with the vinyl sealer base coat. I often use paste wax with steel wool to make the piece feel better to the touch and to bring out the sheen.
Very little care if any is necessary aside from removing dust occasionally. You can use an air canister if you like. You may also use any wax type polish to bring out the sheen. If alcohol or a chemical gets on the piece, wipe off immediately. Letting a chemical sit will ruin the finish.
The leather lining I use is a synthetic suede called Ultrasuede. It can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
Custom and personalized orders
Custom orders are accepted based on wood type only, unless a large quantity is desired. My boxes are all made in batches and are not conducive to size changes. I can do monograms as seen in this listing:
