(The shop has a NO REFUND policy, so please be aware of the shipping time frame before you buy.)

SHIPPING CONFORMATION MESSAGE: Every customer will receive a message from Wax & Wane with an estimated shipping date, within 24 hours of ordering an item, so that you will be 100% sure when your item will arrive. ARE YOUR FEATHERS REAL?
Yes, our feathers are real. They are cruelty-free, naturally-dropped, sanitized, and they are not dyed. Blue and Green or Bright Red feathers on Phoenix and Pheasant fans are occasionally henna-dyed for brighter color.

ARE YOUR FEATHERS LEGAL?

ARE YOUR HANDLES REAL LEATHER?
We do have real leather available, in the tan, sienna, and gray colored handles. Our black handles are upcycled, vegan leather. We enjoy this because it is durable, easy to work with, and it supports our cruelty-free agenda.

WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR FEATHERS?
We prefer not to reveal where we source our feathers, because there has been unhealthy competition with other crafters in the past. Our feathers are cruelty-free, naturally-dropped, sanitized, and they are not dyed. All of our feathers are legal. We do not support Hobby Lobby or craft store feathers. A lot of our supplies are purchased at our yearly Native American Pow wow.

WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT TWO WEEKS TO RECEIVE MY FAN?
All fans are completely handmade to order. We strive to make our fans as close as possible to our demo fan photographs, but feathers always unique. When you place an order, we start to work on your fan right away. You will receive a message from the shop confirming the day your fan will ship out. Thanks for your patience, as a lot of love and care goes into every fan we make.

ARE YOU NATIVE AMERICAN?
Yes. I am ¼ Cherokee. We support Native Craftspeople, and we respectfully craft tools for ceremony, weddings, ritual space, and dance. We support our local Pow wows.

WHAT DOES HANDMADE ON ETSY MEAN?
Handmade means that your item is made by an individual in their own studio space. It also means that you may have to wait a bit for your order to be physically made by the seller.

WHAT IS A STAR SELLER? WHY LEAVE 5 STARS?

CAN YOU SHIP BY A PARTICULAR DATE FOR A RITUAL OR SPECIAL OCCASION?
Sometimes we can. It depends on how short of a notice you give us. During the November and December winter holidays, we do not process rush orders. the shop will be CLOSED for the Thanksgiving Holiday and Native American Heritage Day, and no handmade items will ship from Monday, Nov. 21st until Monday November 28th. Orders that you’d like to arrive before the Christmas Holiday must be placed by Dec. 9th.

HOW DURABLE ARE YOUR FANS?
Our fans are glued in multiple spots and are as sturdy as we can make them. They are, however, tools, and all tools must be treated with care. Please keep your fan out of reach of cats, dogs, pets, small children, moths, ritual fire, and rainy weather. They are made for gentle smudging. If you smudge very aggressively, we cannot guarantee your fan will not need a repair. We no longer offer repair support, but we can make suggestions if you message us.


HOW DO I STORE MY FAN TO PROTECT IT FROM PETS AND SMALL CHILDREN?
You can store fans in a drawer, high shelf, or wrapped in soft cloth. Some people like to keep fans in archival boxes. Store fans with herbs to keep away moths and other bugs who might be attracted to the fan. Cats in particular are very attracted to feather fans.

WHAT IS SMUDGING?
Smudging is purification of a person, item, or space by using fans to waft herbal smoke upon the object. Common smudging herbs are sweetgrass, white sage, mugwort, lavender, and purple sage. You can look up smudging on the internet. It is a Native American tradition, but also used in Healing, Lightwork, Reiki, Pagan rituals, Wicca, Yoga, and other ceremonies or practices. We make fans for all of these purposes.

WHEN WILL MY FAN ARRIVE DURING THE HOLIDAYS?
The shop will be CLOSED until Mon. Jan. 9th for the Holidays. Handmade items will ship around mid to late January at the moment. You will receive a specific shipping date after your purchase, so that you can be sure when your item will arrive.


DO YOU GIFTWRAP? HOW ARE YOUR FANS PACKAGED AND SHIPPED?
All fans are packaged in eco-friendly plastic bags, and are secured so that the tips are not damaged. They are then wrapped in white tissue paper. They are shipped with a box insert, to keep the fan from being crushed, if your package is mishandled by the mail.

WHY DO YOU NOT PROCESS RETURNS?
Our supplies are limited, and our time is valuable. Returns are not sustainable for handmade craftspeople, because the time we spend making your item is not replaceable. Please be sure you’d like to purchase a handmade sacred tool, before you buy a fan. Vintage items are one of a kind, and often rare, and are not available for returns. I will occasionally do exchanges, if items are damaged in shipping. Please contact me if you have any problem with your order, before leaving a review.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
Yes, except we do not ship to Germany, Sub-Saharan Africa, or South America due to delivery difficulties or restrictions. Also, be aware that your item has to clear your country’s customs department. This time may vary depending upon your country’s system.

DO YOU EXPEDITE SHIPPING?
No, we ship using USPS Priority mail which ships in 2-3 shipping days. During the holidays or on weekend, this ship time can be extended due to heavy volume of packages at the post office.

DO YOU PROCESS WHOLESALE ORDERS?
Yes, occasionally. We do not make large orders, because our supplies are limited, and our time is limited. But please contact me if you have any questions. We often do work for weddings and special ceremonies. We usually do not do large orders in November or December due to the Holiday rush.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE MISSING PACKAGES?
Etsy and the Post Office have procedures in place for missing packages. It is actually very rare! Please message me if your package goes missing, or is mis-delivered, and I will help give you phone numbers and contacts you can call to help. Only two packages have gone missing in 17 years, so this does not happen often.

HOW DO YOU SET YOUR PRICING?
Handmade pricing is set based on cost of materials, and the amount of time it takes me to make each item. Vintage prices are set according to market value.

HOW DO YOU CONDUCT TAROT CARD READINGS ON ETSY?
If you are purchasing a Tarot Card reading on Wax & Wane, after ordering, please Etsy message me your question/situation that you would like me to consider. Please be as specific as possible, and only ask one question. I will perform your reading, and message you back within 24 hours with your .jpeg picture of your cards attached to your message, and the relevant text describing your reading.

WHY DO YOU SELL VINTAGE ITEMS ALONGSIDE HANDMADE ONES?
I have a lot of interesting collectibles, toys, and clothes, and decided to sell them on Etsy, instead of other platforms, because I already had my Etsy shops set up.

*SHIPPING DELAYS: The USPS is currently experiencing heavy package delivery volumes, and Priority Mail may be delayed beyond 2-3 shipping days. Please be aware this is out of the control of the seller, and be prepared for less tracking scans, and for shipping delays during this challenging time. Your package WILL ship from my studio on time, I put each and every shipment in the postal box myself. But from that point in, I have absolutely no control over the speed of your delivery. All wands and fans are custom made to order...and are as special and unique as you! All of our wands are made by hand, using North American specialty woods such as Oak, Pine, Dogwood, Tulip Tree, Nandina, Forsythia, Holly, Orange Honeysuckle, Ivy, Willow, Azalea, Gardenia, Cherry, and more. Handles are made from suede, silk, cotton, precious stones, and crystals. Tips of wands are hand-carved, and crystals are available. These wands are altar blessed, made from trees and shrubs from our own land, and the wood is given freely of the trees, in exchange for an offering. Custom wands are available...we love to work with customers and fulfill special needs: decorative and magical! *Each smudge fan is one of a kind, and all the feathers are unique and naturally dropped, so be aware that your fan will be as close as possible, but not identical, to the demo fan in the photo. Sometimes certain small detail feathers go in and out of stock, as do the sustainable leather handle pieces that I receive from small artisans. We keep the fans as close to the pictures as possible, and use the same materials whenever they are available. If they are not available, then we use a very close substitution.These are not craft store feathers, so some feathers will not be perfectly smooth, starched, or chemically dyed like packaged store feathers. We think this makes the fans far more special.*

*All of my smudge fan feathers are naturally dropped, and cruelty free. They are either naturally colored, or dyed with henna/vegetable inks. Any leather used is either sustainable, recycled, or upcycled. Any dye is non-chemical. Herbs and bath or apothecary items are pesticide free, organic, vegan, allergy-free, and many are home grown. Wand wood and many stones are found on hikes, or from plants on my own property, and are harvested responsibly. All of my supplies are purchased, when possible, by independently owned local shops such as Health Unlimited, Phoenix & Dragon, local markets, or at the Stone Mountain Pow-wow, directly from Native craftspeople. I have been growing and drying herbs for over 20 years, and was taught how to cut, cure, and dry them by my Great-Grandmother and Grandmother. It's a family tradition! All herbs are pesticide free, and organically grown. Some herbs may be seasonal or have limited availability. The essential oils in all herbs are at their peak during evening hours, and especially during full moons. All of our herbs are harvested with this in mind, to provide you with the highest quality scent. All herbs are rack dried, hung upside down, which encourages the essential oils to drain into the leaves for maximum potency.
