Announcement    Welcome to Bread & Jam, where we create jolly nice things for jolly nice people just like you.

We’re a small creative team based in beautiful Cumbria, with husband and wife Jamie and Catherine, at the helm. We’ve been making lovely stuff since 2012, and our ethos is really to create things that reflect our inspiration and are always ship shape. We love great design and perfectly practical gifts.

We put our hearts and souls into our designs, which means that everything is a genuine reflection of us and what we want to put into the world. We love to create meaningful pieces for big occasions, such as weddings, milestone birthdays and Christmas dinners. But we also like to look on the bright side of life, with a healthy dose of whimsy and fun for birthdays, celebrations and cloudier days when we could all do with a lift.

Ultimately, we’re inspired to live our lives in balance: taking care of ourselves, our girls, and work towards our big dream of buying our own land and building a home from scratch. Simple, meaningful and joyful – that’s our dream for Bread & Jam, and we hope to share it with you.

Everything we make is created with care. Every design comes from our heads and out into the world with utmost attention to detail. We love knowing our customers are getting a little bit of sunshine and joy when they open a Bread & Jam delivery!

Bread & Jam - A short history

Hey, we’re a wife and husband creative team who work from a little black cabin in deepest darkest Cumbria.

We started Bread & Jam to earn a little extra money, whilst Jamie was freelancing and Catherine was raising our two girls and making things to sell at craft fairs locally. Interest in our work was brisk and we found Bread & Jam was dominating most of our time, so we decided to pool our creative and business skills and run Bread & Jam as a grown up business rather than a money making hobby.

We’ve been designing and making things from our studio since 2012, initially hand printing most of what we design, using techniques such as letterpress and screen printing. We became busy, very busy very quickly, so we had to tailor what we did to meet demand, which meant we had to decide to move some of our work to a digital printing process. We can happily disclose that the balance between the handmade techniques versus digital became a little digital heavy, so we are now feeling our way back to making things with our own hands, using our own skills and it feels good.

We have a very keen eye for detail, which means that if you receive one of our pieces or buy something for yourself, then you can rest assured that we have taken very good care of your order. From start to finish we pride ourselves on making sure that from the moment you receive your order it will be a joyous voyage of discovery and delight.

We have quite modest aims for our future, which keep the momentum going for Bread & Jam and the work we produce. We are currently enjoying renovating an old rural farmhouse, which has been uninhabited for at least 30 years. We’ve also recently put some savings into an old bus called Ugly Betty, which we are hoping to transform into a home from home. We then want to be able to explore all corners of the UK and beyond over the next few years.

Shipping
We aim to post purchases within 2 working days of receiving cleared payment. If it is going to take us a little longer to get your item into the post, we will contact you to let you know. We post all our goodies with Royal Mail first class mail.

If you're in the UK we estimate your purchase will arrive within 2 working days from dispatch, if you're overseas it can vary depending on your location but for example for customers in the US it should arrive within 7-10 from the date of dispatch. If you're in the EU it will generally take 5-7 days for your order to arrive from the date of dispatch. We send all overseas deliveries tracked.

We always package our products carefully so that they reach you in tip-top condition.

On the rare occasion an item arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with a photograph of the damage. We will then be in touch to resolve this for you. We do not usually request damaged items to be returned to us, but please do not dispose of any items until we have been in touch to confirm we will not require it returning.

Please note - if you wish to return your order, the cost of the return postage will not be refunded by us unless the item is faulty.

This also applies to any international delivery charges.

If an item is returned to us because it has not been collected from the sorting office, is addressed incorrectly, or has been marked 'return to sender' we will pass on the costs we incur from Royal Mail. This will either be done by invoicing you for the additional costs alongside the extra postage costs in sending this back out to you, or by deducting the cost from the refund. We do not look to make money from this, we simply need to cover the costs that Royal Mail charge us for these services.
Additional policies and FAQs
We are not able to advise on whether items you purchase will be subject to the payment of VAT or customs charges when shipped internationally and we are not responsible for the payment of any of these charges. Please seek information and advice in your own country if you are unsure of anything.
