HELLO! LOOK BELOW FOR SHIPPING, UNPACKING, AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to my shop! After a very long hiatus, I have returned to creating terrariums with magical moss. My favorite varieties grace our new home on 3 acres in beautiful Eugene Oregon so how could I resist? When designing my terrariums my aim is to create a magical microcosm that highlights the incredible beauty of the planet we share and of one of nature's miniatures; moss.
I was a featured seller eons ago when my teenagers were babies...

SHIPPING: I aim to be as kind to Mother Earth as possible therefore I upcycle used and vintage glass jars and reuse boxes and plastic and paper packaging whenever possible for shipping. Care instructions are now listed here to avoid all of the waste associated with printing. If this is a gift, I will include a hand written note to direct the recipient here for unpacking and care instructions. Each terrarium is one of a kind and ready to ship. I ship via PRIORITY USPS. If you live in Eugene, we can easily arrange for free local pick-up.
UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS: Unpack your terrarium as soon as possible and during daylight hours for the lovliest view. Natural light brings the terrarium to life and you may be disappointed if you open at night. Place the terrarium upright on a flat surface and GENTLY remove the packaging and protective egg carton covers from the inside of the terrarium. The moss may be a bit smooshed. You can use your fingers or tweezers, if your terrarium jar is narrow and includes a pair, to fluff the moss back up. I used to stake or glue the miniatures into the terrarium but I have found that both methods are not 100% reliable during shipping and can damage the moss. So now I include a pair of chopstick tweezers I rigged if your jar is narrow. ***You can refer back to the photo in the listing for placement of miniatures if you like.*** Be sure to place your terrarium on or very near a bright window right away.
TERRARIUM CARE: I have A LOT of experience creating with moss and only use varieties that thrive in a closed terrarium. Before listing, each terrarium rests for at least a week to be sure the moss successfully adjusts to its new home. Here are the DO's, and DONT'S of terrarium care:
DO keep your terrarium LIGHTLY moist. You will RARELY need to add water. When you do, lightly mist (I use a well cleaned spray bottle). Collect rain water and fill up a spray bottle. You can also use spring or distilled water. It will last you a long time! If your terrarium has a moss tree, it will need to be watered more often than the rest of the terrarium. When you see the edges of the moss curl up, direct a light spray at the tree. Even if it completely curls up, it will fluff back up when misted! If your terrarium has needlefelted sheep, do remove them before misting.
DON'T pour water into your terrarium or mist too often. If the terrarium gets too wet, mold or rot will become an issue. Don't use water directly from the tap.
DO keep your terrarium on or very near a window. Your moss needs bright INDIRECT light to thrive. My bright north facing windows are perfect. Your moss needs BRIGHT light to thrive, so make sure you pick a bright spot!
DON'T place your terrarium in constant DIRECT sunlight. It will damage the moss.
DO air out your terrarium every so often by taking the lid off for a short time. If your terrarium is really steamed up all of the time, remove the lid and let it dry up a bit. It is normal for your terrarium to be clear during cool weather and steamed up when it is warmer. I find that my terrariums are clear in the morning and steamed in the afternoon. You will discover your terrarium's cycles. If your terrarium is steamed up all of the time, that might be an indicator that it is getting too much direct sun or it is too wet, which are both moss killers.
DO regularly wipe the outside and inside of the glass to maintain a lovely clear view.
DON'T use windex or any kind of cleaner on the inside of the glass jar! The moss will not like it!
DO reach out with ANY and ALL ?'s
and finally
DO fall in love with moss and your terrarium!

4 out of 5 starsThe quality is fine. It was packaged fine. Although, it was mailed in an envelope which got torn apart and was repacked from the sender. an envelope is not really practical. I realize you are trying to save on packaging, but it runs the risk of being torn.
