About

Midian Craftworks is all about bringing stained glass and other crafty endeavors to the dark/dork side!

I'm a big fan of anime, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming, and I love to create things. This is where my loves combine. I can create cool stuff, inspired by what makes me happy. *Meeting fellow fans and crafters is a nifty perk too.* :)

After managing a stained glass booth at a local renaissance festival, I fell in love with stained glass. I thought the medium was pretty interesting, was bored by the traditional subjects portrayed, but thought it would still be fun to learn. In 2004, I took it upon myself to learn the art of stained glass and started creating pieces inspired by the things I loved.

While stained glass is my preferred medium, I love to dabble. I could be working on a lamp one day, and some knitting or engraving the next. I never stop trying to improve and expand on my skillsets. Next skill to learn: welding!

I love creating things. I'm willing to try any medium, but stained glass is always my standby. My creative endeavors tend to be focused on anime, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and gaming.

Shipping
Ready-made items generally ship within 3 business days of payment processing (weekends not included). Please check item listing for estimated times on made to order and custom stained glass items as production times vary.
Made to order etched items generally ship within 7-10 business days, though if I can get them out sooner I will.
Production times for all items can be longer around holidays or if I've got a busy event/vending schedule.

Orders are primarily shipped through the US Postal Service. I try to use recycled packing materials whenever I can. The packaging usually isn't pretty and frilly, but it gets the job done.

United States:
Shipping rates for stained glass art includes tracking and insurance and, in some cases, a handling/packaging fee. I know that insurance adds a few dollars to the total, but glass is a fragile medium. If a carrier wants to play dodgeball with a package, I'd rather it be covered. The majority of items are shipped Priority Mail via USPS.
Etched items are shipped Priority Mail, which automatically includes tracking/$100 of insurance. If you'd like a specific shipping method used, such as Express shipping, please message me prior to sale.

International:
Customers are responsible for any customs fees, taxes or duties assessed on items purchased. I will not falsify customs forms.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please contact me as soon as possible if there is an issue with your item!

If you are unhappy with your ready-made item, returns are accepted within 7 days of item delivery. The item must be returned in its original condition. The sale price, not including shipping, will be refunded via same payment method made for purchase

Made to order items and custom/personalized pieces are not eligible for refund, unless due to an error on my part. Always be sure to check the spelling for personalized items as I will not message you to verify what you send!

Buyer is responsible for return shipping on goods.

Stained Glass: Due to the handmade nature of my art and the color and tonal variations in glass, items rarely look exactly as pictured. I strive to represent my pieces as accurately as possible, but photographing glass is tricky.

Etched Glass: Items are made to order unless otherwise stated. Digital mockups are primarily used in listings to showcase designs. Final product may vary slightly in placement, sizing and color. Taking pictures of etched glassware is just as difficult as taking pics of stained glass. ;)

All designs are vectored and a stencil is then cut into vinyl to make a sandblast resist. Due to limitations in my equipment, some fine details may not be reproduced exactly as referenced (such as the insides of very small letters) or I may have to adjust and simplify a design. Items are all blasted by hand so minor defects (such as overblast or speckling) can occur on occasion. The glassware itself can also have minor defects straight from the manufacturer (small air bubbles, minor scratches, etc), I try to work it so that those defects are covered by the blasted image but that is not always possible.

Etched orders will not be refunded or remade because of the small defects mentioned above as it is just the nature of glassware and the abrasive etching process. If I am unhappy with something though, I will offer it for a reduced price as a second/defective/as is item with imperfections shown and will remake the initial item ordered.

If an item is received damaged, be sure to keep the original packaging and take pictures and you will be able to file a claim with the shipping company (that's why insurance is our friend here). If you would like a replacement item, you can repurchase the item and a new one will be made and shipped! If you would like me to file the claim instead, I must be notified of damage within 7 days of delivery and you must also send pictures of packaging and item damage. If you would like a replacement item in this instance, you can repurchase the item and a new one will be made and shipped. Upon claim approval, I will then refund the charges for the new purchase.

I am not responsible for lost packages. Please be sure to double check shipping address used at checkout!
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are always welcome! If you've got something in mind, send me a convo on Etsy or email me at MidianCraftworks [!at] gmail.com

Stained Glass:
Most custom stained glass pieces require a 50% non-refundable deposit before production is started, with the remaining balance being due at completion (prior to shipping). Some larger or more intricate works will be assessed a non-refundable design fee. If the design is approved, the fee will go towards the work itself.

Glass Etching:
Custom work may incur a setup/design fee. If wanting a custom design, it's best to send in vector images or high resolution black and white raster images. My equipment does have limitations, so some designs will exceed my current capabilities. There will come a time when I am able to reproduce photo quality images via blasting, but that time is not yet here.
