About

Premium wood, real joinery, original designs.

I live and work in Owego, NY, west of Binghamton and south of Ithaca. I have been designing and building functional woodwork since 1990, and am self-taught.

My basic approach to woodworking is to choose premium materials, and execute simple designs with strong joinery. Beautiful wood can speak for itself; it doesn't need to be embellished or decorated. I use solid hardwood finished with traditional finishes such as oil, shellac and varnishes. Drawer bottoms are cabinet grade multi-ply, interiors are solid ash.

Since 1991 I have completed a wide variety of work, from custom furniture to commercial installations. Currently my main focus is on jewelry chests, large custom armoires, and an emerging line of smaller boxes. Paper shade lamps are available occasionally.

I always have some completed pieces ready to ship; contact me for details. If you have a custom project in mind, give me a call to discuss. Large pieces require a good deal of time to design and execute, so your patience is appreciated.

Returns and exchange details
Standard jewelry chests may be returned within 30 days for a refund, minus shipping costs plus a 20% restocking fee. They may also be exchanged for full value for another item.

Custom items are not returnable.
Payment
I accept Etsy checkout, major credit cards, Paypal, and personal checks or money orders.

For items not yet completed, 50% deposit is due when ordering, 50% upon shipment. For completed items ready to ship, full payment is due when ordering.

Sales tax is due on items purchased in person from my studio or shipped to addresses in New York state.
Shipping
I charge for actual freight costs plus packing materials. Unless otherwise notified, all items are shipped to US addresses via UPS. UPS charges slightly more than competitors, but they have a better service all around, from my end to yours. They also pay the drivers a living wage and as a result they are professional and efficient, as well as friendly and courteous. All items are fully insured.

Overseas shipments are via USPS International Priority Express Mail. I have had good experience with that service and the rates are very competitive. See individual listings for exact rates. Customers are responsible for all tariffs, taxes, and duties. Please allow ample time for items to clear customs.

Large furniture is custom crated and shipped common carrier. Freight costs for furniture depend on size, distance, and service desired. Customer pickup at a freight depot is the least costly, white glove service delivered to your living room is the most.
Additional policies and FAQs
Institutional and commercial archival storage systems for jewelry, documents, specimens, etc are also available.
