Announcement   Just in case you were wondering, don't forget...almost everyone enjoys a surprise package in the mail after the so called Holidays....off set everydayness® - Celebrate every day!! And every day? is one day closer to: It's almost Christmas! Or, avoid last minute hastle™...buy now for next Christmas! what? that's right...NOW!

Thoughts, concepts, childhood memories and/or dream sequences people want realized in stained glass, result in a stimulating and often other-worldly process that bring mysterious and satisfying results.

I enjoy a natural patina as metals begin to oxidize in the scheme of things...silver solder lines and copper rods for leaf stems develop a lovely patina over time. In light, the pieces will present a dark solder line (I don't apply acid to the metals unless requested...an additional $25 will be required for that process) and copper stems will appear dark with natural light. At night, the ambient light from indoors will give a different view, reflecting off the various metals.

About shipping...jewelry and select item listings include USPS First Class, and everything else ships USPS Priority. 2013 ushered in the hugest increases in USPS First Class International and Priority International. If you don't mind the longer shipping time with First Class International (and sometimes there's no difference), I can make a listing for you with specific shipping for your destination. Give me a holler, and I'll make it happen.

If you're wondering what it's all about (or want to know how to make Yorkshire pudding), drop me a line to begin a so-called writty dialogue for your own unique idea forming in your head...

About

Transforming discarded glass bottles and scrounged pieces of stained glass into memories, dreams and floating clouds...

So many little stories...daughters remembering their fathers taking them fishing and selecting fish from my stained glass stringer...a son who recently selected an elm leaf mobile for his parents, as an ode to an elm tree that had to be removed from their backyard...the nurse who caught an enormous catfish, only to lose the snapshot after the catfish was released, asking to immortalize this moment in art glass...a prose poet/wood worker/bookkeeper remembers an encounter with a diminutive owl, and collaborates with little sketches and natural history snippets to realize that memory by modifying one of my existing designs...the entomologist who requested an anatomically correct female deer tick...and on and on.

I asked my wife to write some things about my art… “Brian Western of Western Art Glass began designing stained glass pieces for friends and family 33 years ago. Accepted at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, a family tragedy forced a more practical path and he spent 32 years as a warehouseman of fine paper and raising 3 children, one with autism, with his wife of 36 years. Retired now at last, Brian’s art juices are flowing again, and his customers have been raving about Western Art Glass.

Originally from Canada, Brian’s brother taught him the nuts and bolts of stained glass art. But Brian’s designs are uniquely his, reflecting nature’s beauty through reclaimed amber beer bottles made into honeycomb jewelry, or dancing-leaf mobiles. Brian’s specialty is custom-made designs made to order, for anyone from brides to entomologists (his beautiful birds, bees, bugs, and insects are accurately depicted). This is JEWELRY for the home and, as Brian would say, 'For your earlobes and clavicle.'”

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

Returns and exchange details
Your satisfaction is my top priority. If you want to return or exchange an item, I will accept it back within the first 7 days of receipt. The item must return in a new and unused condition, in its original packaging.

Please contact me about returning in advance.

Custom Orders are not refundable. I try and provide as much information about the process--including progress reports with photographs--which require approval before each stage is embarked upon.

Refunds will be issued through PayPal or Direct Checkout, less the shipping costs.
Payment
Don't forget that PayPal doesn't require you to have a PayPal account--PayPal will walk you through, using your credit card--always be wary of feral mushrooms in onion sauce...especially when you are exhausted. And of course, Direct Checkout is another option!
Shipping
USPS Priority and Priority International--sure it's more expensive, but your stuff isn't rattling around with seventy pound dumb-bell sets and concrete slabs!

Korrvu packaging cartons are uncannily cool--your glass piece is actually suspended between film in the center of the carton! For smaller sun catchers, I may use foam wrap, inside a bubble wrap mailer, inside a corrugated carton.

First Class Mail International and Parcel Post is another option if you're not in a hurry and trust the Korrvu packaging carton (they're pretty indestructible)--in most cases, shipping costs would drop dramatically from Priority and Priority International. Send me a convo with what you're looking at, and I can figure out the USPS cost before you buy.

Odds n Ends regarding International Orders...

If you desire insurance, please indicate in "Message to Seller" upon purchase and continue payment. You will receive an invoice with the remaining balance.

Additionally...

I do not refund for packages lost/unclaimed/undeliverable.
I am not responsible for taxes and duties that may incur. All international orders are marked "Merchandise" and will not be marked as "Gift" as this is illegal for my business.

Please check your customs policies to ensure safe delivery.

Information I Collect

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorized Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order of jewelry, for example), if you contact me directly.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

--as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
--when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
--if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
--as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest toimprove my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

--Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
--Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
--Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
--Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 4 years.

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU

I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside of the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

--Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
--Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
--Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
--Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
