Beautiful! So soft & comfortable & great style & colour. Only problem is my husband won't take it off so I don't get to wear it. Should've ordered two... 🙄

Thank you for the lovely packaging, it arrived in good time and has inspired lots of natural dyeing already!

First time I've tried natural dyeing and am really excited with the results, the madder colour is lovely. Thank you for the inspiration and ethics created by your shop.

These 3 skeins represent a fraction of the range of shades you can get when dyeing with madder root! The world of natural colour never ceases to amaze me.

About

A Life of Fibre Love

As a child, I spent most of my time dressed in a pioneer costume in my log cabin playhouse in the backyard.  While my friends played with Pogs and Barbies, I’d make ink from lamp black and walnut shells, churn butter and grow wheat. My grandma gave me my first knitting lesson at six. Today, though I’ve tried many other things, from pastry-chefing to painting movie sets, I still find I’m happiest when I’m close to the garden.  When I’m not tending to my edibles and flowers, I have found fulfillment as the creator, designer and knitter behind Westlake. I hand-dye natural-fibre yarns in steaming pots of custom-mixed colour and use skills rooted in tradition to produce thoughtfully-crafted wearables. Inspired by the challenge of a medium seen as old-fashioned, I design simple, chic pieces for the modern wanderer who still has a wool-clad toe in the past.  The soft yarns and muted neutrals and jewel-tones of my colour palette recall nature, enveloping the wearer in the shelter of the garden, even as they step into icy streets.

Please don`t hesitate to get in touch with questions, comments, concerns or custom orders at info[@]westlakeknits.ca or by convo-ing me!

Thanks for your interest in my collection of chic hand knits for the modern wanderer.

I hope that the following sections will answer all of your questions, but if not, please feel free to contact me.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept payment via PayPal, credit card and Etsy gift card. If you'd like to discuss another method of payment, please send me a message.

As soon as I receive your payment, I will prepare your Westlake piece to be shipped out to your mailing address.
Shipping
I am the only knitter behind Westlake, so please allow 5 days for me to knit, package and mail out your handmade goods. Thanks in advance for your patience!

In order to ensure that your Westlake piece reaches you safe and sound, each smaller hand knit item comes swathed in a bubble envelope. Larger orders will arrive in sturdy poly-mailers.

I package and ship items through Canada Post's regular air mail service, which means that, once mailed, your Westlake Designs creation should reach your door in:

- 2 to 9 business days (within Canada)
- 6 to 14 business days (within the USA)
- 6 to 21 business days (international)

This is the most economical shipping option, and so it unfortunately does not come with a tracking number or delivery guarantee. If your item hasn't arrived within the above timeline, please get in touch.

If you would like your package sent Express (comes with a tracking number and delivery guarantee), please get in touch and I would be happy to send you alternate shipping rates.

Please note that International and US parcels may be subject to customs fees at the border, depending on the country you're in, the value of the item and, well, luck (the process seems to be random). Unfortunately, this is out of my control, and I cannot be responsible for paying the fees. You can find out specific fees and duty free thresholds from your local postal service.

If you live in Toronto as well, feel free to contact me about pick-up options.

If you want to ensure that your Westlake Design reaches its destination in time for the holidays, please see this Canada Post Guide to Holiday Mailing Dates: https://www.canadapost.ca/assets/pdf/KB/holiday_mailing_dates_2015_e.pdf.
Please order 5 days in advance of their suggested date to allow me to knit, package and mail your item.
Refunds and Exchanges
If for some reason you aren't satisfied with your hand knit Westlake piece, please contact me and I will do my very best to resolve the problem.

If you would like to refund or exchange your Westlake Design, it must not be worn or damaged. The buyer is responsible for paying the cost of shipping the item back to me. As soon as I receive the item, I will refund its cost minus the original shipping charge.

I package my items with care, but if for some reason your Westlake Design was damaged in the mail, contact me as soon as possible to arrange an exchange of the item. Please take a photo of the damaged packaging before opening.

As a small business owner your feedback is very important to me! I would really appreciate the opportunity to make your shopping experience a positive one so please contact me with any concerns before leaving feedback.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do my very best to take pictures that show an item's colour accurately, however colours may appear different on different computer monitors.

Feel free to contact me regarding custom orders, questions, or comments. I'd love to hear from you!

I also do wholesale and consignment orders in select boutiques.

Je parle un peu de français aussi, donc n`hesitez pas de m`addresser en français! Je ferai de mon mieux de répondre en français mais je ne peux pas promettre la grammaire parfait:)

Thanks for reading.
