About

WETPLATEWARES: Adventures in Wetplate

In the fall of 2011 I was in front of the lens for a husband and wife team of fantastic wetplate artists: Mark Sink and Kristen Hatgi. I shadowed them that whole day... I must have run back and forth from the darkroom to outside over 20 times. But it didn't take that long for me to fall in love with the process. After witnessing it once, I was hooked. Since then I've modeled for several other wetplate artists, solidifying my desire to create wetplates myself. In August 2012 I took a workshop from Craig Barber in Woodstock, NY to learn the process. He was a fantastic instructor and I loved creating wetplates just like I knew I would.

You are witnessing my adventure from the very start. I created 30+ quarter plates in my 4 day workshop. I sold most of those plates to help fund the chemistry and equipment costs to start creating wetplates in my darkroom at home. Half of all profits are getting saved and put into a separate account so I can eventually afford to make my process mobile so I can take my collodion wetplate photography out in the field instead of being confined to my studio and backyard.

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you enjoy my work, but I hope you enjoy it on your wall even more.

I entered the world of fine art photography as an art model and witnessed many different methods of photography over the years. In 2011 I came across the collodion process and I've been fixated on creating my own wetplate magic ever since.
