Shipped within quoted time frame, arrived in a neat little box & look stunning in person. An interesting piece, for certain. Also functional in the way of bodily harm should I ever need tiny spears to impale my sworn enemies, or arch nemesis.

This artist has a good eye and unique point of view. The earrings actually look like ancient space wanderers - timeless and battle-scarred. The choice of materials is a perfect blend of organic and inorganic (wood, metals and twine). I look forward to more!

Absolutely one of a kind. Now if only there were some sort of ear-cuff thingy for those without piercings......

About

The Science of Discovery

i have been making sculpture for nearly a decade- manipulating molten glass, casting and fabricating metals, woodworking, and creating new processes when needed.

while exploring in many tangents of the art realm, i continue to uncover the many layers and meanings of my aesthetic. in sculpture, i create work inspired by antiquated technological contraptions, aimed at harnessing the phenomena that is electricity. i use this motif to express aspects of my own experience, primarily the relationship between this and that, (X) and (Y). following the direction set by many great artists before me, i seek to convey this ideas through a template- an open ended framework for the viewer to own with their own details.

the process of distilling experience to template is practiced heavily in my utilitarian pursuits. my designs start with an idea, an observation taken from time spent experiencing. it is then refined, dissected, deconstructed and redesigned until i move on (or get distracted).

asymmetry - balance in relation - mystery

i have been making sculpture for nearly a decade- using glass, metals, wood, and many other materials. aesthetically, i'm attracted towards making objects that hang in the balance between organic and the antiquated handmade. ( www.wgrickel.info )
