Whimsy Whimsical Paper Goods is a collection of woodland-inspired gifts and paper goods aimed at bringing a touch of whimsy into our daily life. Each and every illustration is lovingly hand drawn to give it that personal touch, gently reminding us to cherish every moment in life with love and joy.

-- WHO AM I --
My name is Yee Von and I am the founder & illustrator of Whimsy Whimsical, a studio based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which focuses on woodland-inspired stationery.

Whimsy Whimsical (WW) was founded in 2010 from a mini collection of foxes and rabbits notecards, and now grows to a range of paper goods which includes notecards, greeting cards, invitations, prints, stickers and tags. All of our paper goods are proudly printed in Malaysia on FSC-certified paper stock with light texture for that personal touch.

-- HOW I STARTED --
After completing my Degree in Graphic Design and working as a graphic designer for several years, I went to further study Master in Communication Design in Melbourne. It was upon my stay in Melbourne I made my decision to become an illustrator as I found that’s my heart calling. Then I returned to Malaysia in 2010 working as a lecturer at day and building WW brand at night. After 5 years of managing both sides, I finally become a full-time illustrator in 2016. My artworks are usually hand drawn on papers with pen & ink. I feel more connected to my illustrations that way and it gives them some personal touch as well. I usually color them in Photoshop to finish them as I find it easier and less messy for me.

WW was born out of a random idea of me trying to get off a routine of one illustration per week while I was working on my girl illustrations. I wanted to create something simple, quick yet whimsical. When I was young, I lived in the mountain for several years due to the nature of my parents' work, which had fostered my love towards nature and animals. The first animal that popped into my head was a fox, so I drew a fox giving a flower to another fox. And that's how WW started, bringing love, joy and whimsical touch to others.

-- WHAT I BELIEVE --
A beautiful sunrise, a sip of tea while observing people on the street, a joyful smile, intimate glare into lover's eyes, night sky full of stars, changes of clouds and colors of the sky... I believe these are the moments that make life worth celebrating. Hence through my works, my animals like fox, bear, rabbit, owl and many more, even though they are different from each other, yet they cherish their friendship, love and joy to simple things like having tea together, smelling flowers and enjoying quiet moments with butterflies.

When I’m not drawing, you’ll find me driving around the town, meeting friends for tea or reading at cafes. I secretly imagine there’s an animal in every one of us. Mine would probably a leopard napping by the lakeside, daydreaming and gaze upon the stars.
