Yarn is lovely. The pink is a little brighter than I thought but that is totally fine. The recipient will love the item I'm making with this. Thank you so much for such a lovely product!

Inspired by nature and committed to reducing our negative impact on it.

Lydia McKay has been knitting for 5 years, dyeing for 4 years, and spinning for 3 years as hobbies. Through her passion for her crafts, she has found a distinct lack in the marketplace for the types of bright and richly saturated yarn that she specializes in. In order to fill this gap, she has created a bounty of different colorways to delight fibers artists around the globe.

Ever conscious, White Iris Yarns seeks to reduce its impact on the environment while maintaining a high standard of quality. From the labels on the yarn to shipping and sample bags to office furniture and supplies to wool wash, it seeks to use as many recycled and/or biodegradable options as possible. Since White Iris Yarns' storefront is located here on Etsy, it does not have the costly and energy-draining need for an outside physical location. Basing the business out of the home will allow a more complete control over electrical power usage, as well as removing the need to use a car or other carbon-emitting mode of transportation in order to reach our workplace. Additionally, many of our shipments are delivered to the care of the post office via bicycle. "Burn fat, not gasoline!"

What's in a name? White irises are among my favorite flowers. There is a simple elegance to these fragile flora that captivates me. Much of my inspiration, in fact, comes from nature; flora, fauna and geological formations all, and many of my colorway names reflect this.

Additional policies and FAQs
Starting in late February of 2011, we started using Soak scentless wool wash on all of our yarn. This wool wash is scent-free, dye-free and is made from a biodegradable formula.

We try to keep my energy and material waste as low as possible. We reuse and/or recycle my shipping and packing materials as much we can and try to be careful not to overuse water, electricity, etc. We use EcoEnclose poly mailers, which are made in the USA and are 100% bio-degradable; disintegrating within months!

We have four cats and a dog in my household but keep them away from all yarn. We realize that this could bother some peoples' allergies, so we offer this full disclosure.
