Well, here we are...it is now Winter...days are shorter, darkness falls early, many landscapes are blanketed with snow...how hard it must be to find seeds and food this time of year if you are a bird. I spend a lot of time wondering how these tiny creatures survive the blustery cold winds and where do they find morsels to eat? Here is where we come to the rescue...watch how fast, seemingly out of nowhere, the birds come when you put out a Seed Wreath. It must be like seeing an oasis in the middle of the desert to them! Ahhh, such a treat to behold! And, the TREAT for us humans is the pleasure of their happy presence outside our windows to enjoy! To me, this is Winter entertainment at it's finest. Watching them swoop in for seeds, fly off while another takes their place, all the while making their hunt for survival a little bit easier till the cold Winter passes. There is nothing prettier than a scarlet red Cardinal against the snow, a little Chickadee singing chick-a-dee-dee-dee as he flies in for a seed or two...or the rapid-fire pecking of the Downey Woodpecker as he hammers away at the Seed Wreath, letting tid-bits fall to the ground only to see the Juncos hop over to grab the fallen goodies. Everyone gets along! Morning Doves, Blue Jays...the Tufted Titmouse! Hang a Seed Wreath out and help Nature's eye candy brave the Winter and treat yourself to something that makes the cold days a lot brighter!
