WICI - from friendship to crafts, art and community work

WICI store is a joint initiative of a group of long time friends with passion for crafting and living history. Like a family, we are bounded by values - we want to preserve ancient crafts (weaving, leatherwork, nalebinding), master them and connect them to the present day. We value good craftsmanship, sustainable production methods and natural materials. All items in our shop are carefully hand made by us.

Who are we? Emilia is a researcher and a weaver. When you contact us regarding tablet weaving, it will be her to advise you. Anna is a master of single needle knitting and a photographer. The other Anna runs her own artistic studio where she creates historical, fantasy and theatrical costumes. She is a sculptor and an experienced festival coordinator, too! Maciej works in finances and loves historical martial arts. His accuracy in numbers translates into masterful leather works.

We met when we were 15, in a small town in central Poland where a living history society was pretty much the only thing to do. We loved it and it changed our lives.

In 2016 we established a non-governmental organisation (Association for the Promotion of Old Crafts and Culture, wici.org.pl) through which we share our passion and knowledge with others. Our goal and dream is to arouse curiosity about creative use of traditional crafts in contemporary education, art and design. We organise workshops and educational activities for families and people in difficult situation who normally wouldn't afford to pay for cultural events. We want to raise awareness about the value of ethically produced hand made items. When you buy from us, you also support our organisation as we use this income to cover the cost of our activities, tools and materials.

Thank you for dropping by! We hope you stay in touch on social media where we regularly post about our ongoing projects, dreams and plans.

WICIstore is a registered company, for business cooperation contact us at info[at]wici.org.pl

Gift wrapping and packaging

To wrap items we use kraft paper and woolen yarn we weave or needle bind with. We love to personalise each order and this is why we will decorate the package with a unique hand drawing (how about a Viking ship? :)) and attach a hand written note to the buyer. We like to keep it simple and sustainable, yet beautiful and personal.

We ship within 1-2 business days after you place your order. For custom, made to order items, please check the listing details or contact us.
We ship worldwide with Polish Post. Every package is registered and has a tracking number.

Custom and personalised orders

As makers, we love custom orders. Please contact us with your idea and we will be happy to help you and answer your questions.

We can advise you on historical patterns, archeological finds and technical details (size, material etc.) of your chosen item.

We have done tablet weaving, leatherwork and naalbinding reconstructions for reenactors of ancient Rome, Viking Age, Rus and many more. Our products were also ordered by museums.

Every custom order is a new craft story for us. This is why packaging is also personalised.
