Announcement   American Realist Fine Art, Oil Paintings and Drawings by Thor Wickstrom

Welcome to my Etsy studio gallery. I'm happy to share my buyer reviews. Here's some of what people who have collected my work have said about it- http://www.etsy.com/people/wickstromstudio/feedback

My landscape paintings reflect my life in New York City and in the Berkshires. I enjoy painting a range of subject matter, from simple field and sky compositions to intricate industrial compositions in the city. The real interest for me is always the color and the light, which is constantly changing, depending on time of day, weather conditions, the season, etc. New York has its own special color palette. Painting outdoors and from life is an endless challenge and joy.

Working from the human figure is also a passion. Lately I've been playing with compositions of artists working from the model and studio compositions. Please note that the oil figure sketches are often on small unmounted pieces linen, These can be professionally mounted and framed, or simply displayed in a mat.

When making an order, please read my shop policies. As is standard with fine art sales, the artist retains reproduction rights.

I now have an Etsy shop which features my work from imagination and memory-

About

It was just for fun...

I wanted to find a venue for some of my small figure pieces, and had heard that Etsy was an good way of getting the work out there. After a few months, it became apparent that this would be more than just a side income- people were really interested in collecting the work I was listing on Etsy.

Now, after 3 years, my Etsy shop is one of the main ways I show my paintings and drawings.

I paint in my studio, and on site in the Berkshires where I live. My partner has a shop at jfoxstudio on Etsy, and we paint together during the summer months. I recently helped my older daughter start a shop, samwickstrom1, because I think Etsy's a great way to get started as a professional artist.

My younger daughter is only 2 years old, so she's not on Etsy yet, although she does "help" me and her mom with our shops.

About me... I live in the Northwest corner of Massachusetts, where I enjoy making art - landscape, still life, figure and portrait work. I've been painting in oils for over 35 years, but still love the excitement of blocking in a new canvas.

Welcome to my studio on Etsy.

My work is entirely from life and from imagination. The paintings and drawings are all originals.

I am open to work on commission. I enjoy doing portraits from life, and have done landscapes and figures on commission as well. Please contact me through Etsy.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Payment can be made with PayPal or with a credit card through Etsy direct check-out.

Sales tax is added for buyers in the state of Massachusetts.

For international buyers, please be aware that your country may charge taxes at customs. I declare the full value of the work. Also, there may be a certain amount of unpacking at customs. I make every effort to pack the work securely.
Shipping
In the USA I usually ship USPS for smaller work, and UPS or Fedex ground for larger. Shipping takes anywhere from a few days (in the northeast) to a week, depending on your location. You will recieve a notification when the work ships and a tracking number. The shipping and handling fee is a rough estimate based on previous sales.

International buyers should be aware of extra taxes and fees their country may charge at customs. I declare the item's full value in the paperwork .

Please note, I am living in 2 places these days, so I now ship when I am at my studio, which is why it says 1-2 weeks. Its very likely your work will ship sooner. Convo me for an estimated time of arrival if you are in a hurry.

The work will be carefully packed and protected for shipping. If there is any problem upon delivery, please let me know.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please contact me within 3 days if you are not pleased with your purchase. I will give you a refund or exchange upon return of the item as long as it arrives in perfect condition. Return shipping costs are at the expense of the buyer and must include insurance.
Additional policies and FAQs
While I make every attempt to accurately match the colors in my paintings and drawings, please be aware that computer monitors can vary quite a lot, so the colors may not be exactly the same on your monitor and mine. It is best to view the work on a few different computer monitors.
