Retirement for old sails. Recycling Sailcloth

Living on the Isle of Wight you can't avoid sails and sailing, it is in our DNA

My partner is the businessman and I was the designer who could sew. I have a great idea he says holding a very large thick piece of sailcloth. Let's make ...... and that is how it started. Love is a piece of sailcloth :)

We thought we would give it a go and almost two years in we have a good customer base, repeat customers and we are now making branded products for other companies.

I am still humbled that people love our products. I design each one and even though we now have homeworkers to help with the sewing, i still wake up in the night wondering if Mrs Smith would prefer orange or red colour splashes on her windbreak.

We are moving into the world of larger recycling schemes, but I will continue to try and make beautiful products from old sails and love my cusomters and love sails.

Sails and sailcloth were not the easiest of materials I have worked with, but I have grown to love them, their history, the texture, the features of the original sail.
