I received this platter in the mail with a box marked Fragile. The plate was SHATTERED It was inside another small box with very little packing. The vendor has told me I have to make a claim to get a refund. I would like to point out that I have received pottery from Bulgaria and Austrailia on Etsy and both arrived in perfect condition. My point is, pottery is very fragile to ship but this was not packed appropriately and now I have to take the time to make a claim or most likely will just call it a loss as I don't have much free time for things that most vendors would cover.

I feel I have to dock a star simply because shipping of this item took an inordinately long time (I ordered it January 27th and received it May 10th). However, the seller was very communicative about their delays and did give me a deep discount on another item to make up for my wait. Additionally, their pottery is absolutely beautiful and the item I received was worth the wait. From what I understand they are moving to offering ready-to-ship items only instead of custom orders, which should eliminate the delays. Don't hesitate to order their pottery - you won't find items like these anywhere else.

About

We love the wildness in all that we do!!!

Lisa is the daughter of a woodworker father and a mother who taught her not only to sew but how to craft her own patterns out of brown grocery bags. She learned knitting, crocheting, tatting lace & quilting from her grandmother as a young girl. Though she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics (and too many graduate courses to count) it is the learning along the way, that has meant the most....building a clay studio from the ground up, the hikes, gardening, natural dyeing with friends, spinning & felting, swimming in the river & the children. "My three...our four. It is the seizing of the moment." says Lisa.

A true native descendant of the original settlers of Gatlinburg, Dwain is a wild son of Appalachia. He has worn many hats along the way. Ex-Coast Guard, Real Estate Broker, hiker, snow skier, pit boss, river swimmer, organic gardener & rescue diver. His abiding love of nature took another route when he met Lisa, newly transplanted in his own Tennessee back yard.

Together, they have created works that honor the beauty of their mountain woodlands. Wild Child Clayworks will always provide craftsmanship of heirloom quality while offering something just a little off the beaten path. We love the wildness in all that we do!!!

    Creator

Our eldest Wild Child, Emma, makes beautiful hand-bound leather journals with handmade paper, as well as handspun yarn and fabric creations. Emma started spinning and knitting as a six year old and loved dyeing her work in her mama's natural dye pots. She grew up spending many hours in nature, in the wild and in her family's gardens. That wildness has influenced Emma's artwork still today. She uses many botanicals to enliven her handmade paper which is upcycled and combined with her own hand-dyed fibers used to bind and line her beautiful journals.

Frequently asked questions

Do You Consider Custom Orders?

Our firing schedule does not typically allow much room for custom order. Although, we are always willing to consider any ideas for new items.

Use & Care

When using your stoneware pottery we suggest placing it into a cold oven & then pre-heating. Also, please remember never to put a piece of our tableware from a refrigerator into a hot oven or into a microwave. Cold to hot equals cracking folks. All of our pottery is non-toxic, food safe, dishwasher & microwave safe. Hand washing is recommended for larger serving pieces.

Shipping Info

We ship USPS Priority Mail & on larger pieces purchase additional insurance at no cost to the customer. Priority Mail is usually 2-3 days but not guaranteed. However, we find it to be extremely reliable. If damage does occur then please refer to our Shipping & Policies tab under each item in our shop.
