My kit arrived earlier than advertised and was most beautifully presented, in a sturdy, flat box, wrapped in tissue paper, with a handwritten card and a little bag of some very attractive buttons thrown in. The wool is gorgeous, the drop spindle exactly as shown in the picture. Comprehensive instructions with photographs are included in the package. I am going to take my time and aim to have some fun with the kit. Thoroughly recommended.

Local wool, the environment and my future goals!

I set up WildForestWool as a way of supporting local farms by paying a fair price for their fleeces. My lifelong dream has always been of owning a wool shop, stocked with interesting and local balls of real wool piled in baskets on shelves. The best bit hidden out the back... a mini wool processing mill, some where local farmers can sell their fleeces for local crafts people to purchase.
I love real wool spinning and knitting and designing my own knitting patterns to share, I also love history and traditional crafts. I started selling on etsy a couple of years ago with my shop RockfordRose where I specialise in 1940s ladies knitwear in real wool. I am a keen environmentalist with a degree in zoology and as a qualified veterinary nurse, I firmly believe traditional farming methods play an important role in our local ecosystems with sheep often being used for land management helping to promote biodiversity through their selective grazing habits. Wool is biodegradable, renewable and environmentally friendly, so I try to make sure my wool processing reflects this, I use no harsh chemicals or bleach just my own hard labour and traditional methods to produce clean pure wool roving which is smooth and easy to spin with some of the wonderful lanolin still in. If you havent tried knitting or spinning before I encourage you to give it a try to help you on your way I regularly share Free tutorials and patterns on my instagram @wildforestwool.
