About

We're not actually all that wild...

We thought about naming the shop MildOatesArt, but it didn't sound very catchy, so we went with WildOates, because, well, we're Oaties. We dabble in making things out of various media and when friends started to ask us if they could buy our stuff, we said "heck yeah!" (We're all g-rated like that), and the rest is history. We are famous from here to across the street...okay, not actually, because we just moved, and nobody on this street knows us at all.

It's just an expression, okay?

Anyway, the selection of goodies in our shop is pretty much guaranteed to be random, but we like it. We hope you do too, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to drop us a line!

  • Jenn

    Owner, Maker

Jenn does most of the making, and it keeps her off the streets and out of biker bars. Not that there is anything wrong with biker bars, but she doesn't have a Harley, which tends to raise suspicious eyebrows in biker bars.

  • Elizabeth

    Curator

Elizabeth mostly handles the paperwork side of WOA. She runs marathons and drinks beer which she brews herself, often at the same time (Gatorade? Gatorade is for sissies). She likes dressing up in 16th Century Scottish garb, hates the heat, though.

  • Emily

    Curator

Emily is the gopher, primarily because she is the youngest and the rest of us think we can boss her around as we like. She does put her hand to making and packing when needed, because she's just cool like that. She has a man in England, waiting...

  • Amanda

    Curator

Amy lives in another part of the state from the rest of us and she handles selling stuff there, God Bless her. She works for the court, so if you've been arrested in her county you've probably met her one time or another.

Welcome to WildOatesArt! We're happy to be part of Etsy, where people can buy handmade items without having to leave home. We like buying, we like selling, so Etsy is a happy place for us!

Payment
We can accept credit and debit cards, Etsy gift cards and other international payment methods where available. We cannot ship until the payment has cleared. We are required to collect California and Sacramento County sales tax on any orders shipped to California, which at the present time is 8.00%.
Shipping
We generally ship USPS and do so as soon after receiving the order as we can. We are away weekends fairly frequently Spring through Fall, however, so if for some reason you don't hear from us immediately on a weekend, that's why. We'll get to it on Monday.

Note on International orders: we will not mark your package as a gift so that you can avoid possible customs duties. While we sympathize with the desire to pay as few taxes as possible, we aren't willing to put our necks on the line to get out of paying them. Your package will be marked as merchandise with the true cost on the customs form. Any duties are up to the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
We pack items as carefully as we can, but if for some reason something arrives in less than stellar order, please take a photo of both it and its packaging and send it to us right away. From there we will figure out a way between us to make it good as quickly as possible.

If you receive an item and decide you just don't like it and don't want it after all, just send it right back to us and we will refund the price of the item and any tax paid as soon as we receive it back. I recommend that you track it so we both know that it was shipped, where it is at any given time, and that it was delivered to us here in Elk Grove.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are welcome, so please don't hesitate to ask. We will let you know if we can do it or not, and set up a custom listing for you. We do ask for a 50% deposit before we begin the work, however, since many custom orders aren't much use to anyone else but the person who commissioned them.
