About

Making the world beautiful, one pair of earrings at a time.

I’ve always been a maker-creator-arranger-designer-organizer of something! As far back as I can remember I’ve been making pretty things or making things pretty. I’m very visual — decorating rooms, houses, designing and planting gardens, setting a beautiful table, arranging flowers, tidying messy shelves, organizing the linen closet…you get the picture.

As a teacher, my classroom was my canvas—I loved creating an inspiring and beautiful environment for my students, orchestrating projects AND teaching art was so much fun! A school is a very creative place and I was most fortunate to be able to explore my own creativity in that environment. For almost 17 years, it fulfilled most all of my creative urges and personal goals (and virtually ALL my time :). Then, what began as a short leave of absence became a fork in the road. I realized I didn't want to be the one looking back, wishing I had been brave enough to leap... so, I leapt. Wild Woman (she who listens to her heart) took on new life -- a surge of creative energy, unbounded enthusiasm and a lot of stumbling around in the dark. I've loved every minute of it!

At a Christmas show in 2007, a customer asked me if I had ever heard of Etsy and suggested I investigate -- after a few years of offering my jewelry at local shows, in January of 2008 I listed my first pair of earrings. Today, each creation feels like a tiny piece of something beautiful going out into the world to bring a little fun and pretty to their new owners. Earrings are STILL my favorite to make with metal pieces a close second! I am awed that my creations are now being worn and enjoyed around the world and am thrilled to still be part of this amazing community!

My home studio includes my jewelry bench, wire wrapping and beading table, materials storage, shipping station and my little office. All the jewelry and other creations you see at Wild Woman are created by me in one of these spaces. I am inspired by color, light, words and quotes, sparkle, simple, clean lines, whimsy, a little bit of groovy, retro mod, the beach, vintage and well-loved pieces, mixed metals and an industrial esthetic as well... ahhhh, so many possibilities...

A blogger recently asked me who I design for and I've paused to consider this woman. She is the joyful lover of color and quality, simple design... the lighthearted woman with a swing in her step and a serene (or mischievous) smile on her face... the chooser of her life... the playful retro funky heart... the rustic industrial theatre going minimalist... the investor in quality everyday jewelry that gives each morning a cheerful boost... the whimsically audacious Wild Woman in her very soul... she is in your book club, your yoga class, your family, your neighborhood, your sisterhood, your office, your mirror -- have a look.

Wild Woman is a one-woman show -- I’m the designer, maker, photographer, customer service rep, question answerer, packager, shipper, tag maker and any other ‘do-er’ required -- it’s me from start to finish! During the busy holiday season, the ladies at the Post Office look forward to visits from my wonderful husband laden with packages and explicit instructions for delivery. They take very good care of him!

My business, passion for creating and jewelry collections have grown over the last several years. Metalsmithing classes have allowed expansion in new directions for both my jewelry and simple home décor creations. You can find these under Metalwork and Ornaments in my shop. Also, in response to customer requests, I've added some stamped personalized pieces and options. I’m happy and so privileged to be doing something I love!
