Like the fairy that walks through the forest on a magical night surrounded by all the beautiful things in nature, I see the world as a very magical place, and I am in total and constant awe of the beauty around me. As an artist, I try very, very hard to emulate that beauty in everything I create, and I get no better joy than to see that awe and enjoyment on people's faces when they own one of my creations. And for those reasons I use recycled and non toxic materials in my studio as well as in my life, even in the precious metals and base metals (I recycle my own metals) I use to create the artisan jewelry that I sell, yet I am so confident in the quality of my work and materials, that I create and wear the pieces myself too. And the fact that I am reducing the danger my art, my love, my passion, and my joy poses on the health of those around me and this beautiful planet we live on, makes what I do even that much sweeter.

Not only is this stained glass panel really beautiful and obviously well-made. The artist/seller used extremely smart/careful packaging to get it to me without a scratch. She also got it to me very quickly and then followed up with me to make sure it was okay and that I was happy. I AM happy! I'll probably ask her to make another one for me to compliment the first one and I'll probably buy other stuff as gifts. The real trick will be actually giving something like this away...

So I have been spending a lot of time lately learning new metal working techniques. This is my first ever attempt at fold forming metal! Made of solid copper sheet and wire with a natural black onyx cabochon :-)

About

A Whimsical Flutterby

I am Nickole (Kohly) Schmidt. I have studied Visual communications and graphic design at Brown College. I am a self taught stained glass, jewelry, wood, and ceramics artist.
I love creating in every sense of the word. I especially love to mix mediums that others say don't work well together, just to see what I can come up with.
I have enjoyed creating things out of almost anything since I was a very young girl, even if it wasn't meant to go together.
I enjoy working in several areas from photography to graphic design, from jewelry to ceramics, and from painting to 3D modeling. All though it does not effect my attention to detail, nor my constant strive for uniqueness and beauty in everything that I create. I guess that's the true artist in me. I enjoy anything that allows me to express my inquisitive yet free spirited nature. I have always been very artistic in nature and am not happy unless I am being creative in some fashion. I decided to name my shop WimsicalGlassography because I have always been fascinated by any form of glass art, and photography and I have always felt that I had a whimsical attitude when it came to being creative, and I wanted a shop name that not only fit my personality, but also would describe my artistic interests, drive, and passion.
I find more joy in creating something that will make someone else happy than I do creating something for myself.
When I make a new product, I ask myself, is this something I would buy or be happy with? And if the answer is no, then I try again until it is just right. I work out of my small apartment where I live with my wonderful hubby, my beloved chihuahua Paco, and my beautiful kitty Seven.
I have only been selling my creations in glass, wood, ceramics, and my jewelry for just under a year, but have been selling my original 3D digital artwork for roughly 7 years.
I am always learning, experimenting, and expanding my knowledge to improve and update my techniques and skills.
My goal is to share my passion for unique hand crafted items through my shop, and to build a list of very happy clients and fans that will turn into repeat clients for life.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Custom orders can take anywhere from 2-5 business days to complete but may take longer depending on the item you want created.
There is a down payment requirement of 50% of the total cost upfront.
** PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE CUSTOM ORDER PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION FAQ's before placing a custom order.

Do you refund incorrect shipping charges?

Any shipping charges that are actually less than what you paid at checkout will be refunded once your purchase has shipped. I only charge what I have to pay to ship, but sometimes the calculated shipping is not always correct, so that is why I refund the difference.

What are your custom order payment and cancellation policies?

Custom orders require a 50% minimum down payment upfront and must be cancelled within 24 hours of placing your order in order to receive a refund if you paid in full. If you only made a 50% down payment and you do not cancel your order within 24 hours of purchase, your order cannot be canceled and no refund will be given if you change your mind.
