Good, Quiet, Beautiful Work
Comencé mi viaje como artista con cerámica, un medio que adoro, y me centré en eso durante ocho años. En medio de este tiempo, me convertí en madre. Mi arte pasó por transiciones, e hice algunas cosas hermosas, pero mucho menos.
Durante este extraño momento de agitación, descubrí el tejido. En pocas palabras, más de 5 años y dos bebés adicionales más tarde, esto ha llevado al teñido de fibra, el hilado, el reciclaje de suéteres, el reciclaje de textiles, el teñido con plantas locales y el procesamiento de vellones de ovejas crudas.
Valoro mucho lo doméstico. Me encantan las cosas hechas desde cero: comida, música, cerámica, suéteres... realmente hay amor encarnado en estas cosas. No me interesa mucho ser vanguardista o rompedor, cuando hay tanta belleza en los objetos cotidianos. Algo nuevo y fresco se puede colocar dentro de estas cosas, para deleitar el alma y revivir nuestros rituales diarios, sin buscar sorprender o romper límites. Es un trabajo bueno, tranquilo, hermoso.
Esta tienda es una salida de mi viaje hacia la buena vida tal como la veo, y espero que mi trabajo te hable.
I started my journey as an artist with pottery, a medium I adore, and focused on that for eight years. In the middle of this time, I became a mother. My art went through transitions, and I made some beautiful stuff, but much less of it.
During this strange time of upheaval, I discovered knitting. Long story short, over 5 years and two additional babies later, this has led to fiber dyeing, spinning, sweater recycling, upcycling textiles, dyeing with local plants, and processing raw sheep fleeces.
I greatly value the domestic. I love things made from scratch--food, music, pottery, sweaters . . . there really is love embodied in these things. I'm not much interested in being avant garde or groundbreaking, when there is so much beauty to be found in everyday objects. Something new and fresh can be placed within these things, to delight the soul and revive our daily rituals, without seeking to shock or break boundaries. It's good, quiet, beautiful work.
This shop is an outflowing of my journey towards the good life as I see it, and I hope my work speaks to you.
