About

When Life Hands you Lemons...

I started my Etsy shop out of necessity. I've always enjoyed crafting, but never thought of selling what I made until I became a full-time stay-at-home mom. I started out on Etsy selling candles and wax melts. That's all that I was going to offer because I wanted to keep things simple...I have a problem keeping things simple though.

My Etsy shop, much like my life, is eclectic. I offer my standard fare- candles and body butter, but I strive to keep things fresh and add in the new creations that I work on, like nail polish, burlap wall art, yarn wreaths and more. I'm finding that I love to work on nail polish. It allows me to pour in the creativity that I have been looking for with bath and beauty products.

I have not forgotten the products that gave me a start on Etsy and I'm constantly looking for ways to freshen up my product lines and make the best possible product for my customers.

On August 12, 2013, I opened my first brick-and-mortar Windsor Hills store in a small storefront in our historic downtown! I showcase U.S. artisan crafters and bringing whimsical elegance to life in my physical store. Things have went so well that as of January 2014, we are opening in a large standalone store that is still located in our historic downtown.

Shipping
I carefully pack your order and insulate it to try to prevent your candle or body butter from melting. During the hot summer and cold winter months, I will only ship on a Monday or Tuesday to prevent your order from being caught in a warehouse or in a hot (or cold) truck during the weekend. I ship USPS unless a customer requests a different carrier. The customer is responsible for any extra fees that their preferred carrier charges. Customers are expected to pay for insurance on their item (it is usually a $.75 charge)

Windsor Hills Wicks & Lather cannot be held liable for melted candles or body butter once they leave our premises. However, I will take every precaution to pack your order so that it arrives to you in perfect condition. We will take every precaution to ship items so that they arrive to you in the condition that they were shipped in, but we cannot be held liable for broken containers. If this is a concern, PLEASE purchase shipping insurance. Due to prior abuse of my return/refund policy, we will approve refunds or remakes on a case by case basis, I will require photographic proof of the broken item, with a dated item in the actual photograph (not a time/date stamp as they are easy to manipulate).

If you choose to purchase insurance (which costs from $.75 to $1), please make a note of it in the "Note to Seller."
Refunds and Exchanges
*If you have a defective product (wick sputtering, will not light, etc.), return it to me and I will test it and make you a new candle.
*If your package is unopened and never burned, I will refund you 100%
*I will not refund or allow a return on any product if you do not like the scent or color.
*If you purchased a clearance item, you are ordering "as is" and I cannot replace the product.

Revised FAQ
When I order, how will I receive my candles?

If you local to the Paris, TN area, you can pick up your item at our store in
Downtown Paris.I also offer shipping, which will be addressed in the next question.

Will you ship during summer or winter?

In short, yes. I carefully pack your order and insulate it to prevent your candle from melting. I will also only ship on a Monday or Tuesday to prevent your order from being caught in a warehouse or in a hot (or cold) truck during the weekend. Even though UPS shipments are insured, they do not reimburse for melted candles. Windsor Hills Wicks & Lather cannot be held liable for melted candles once they leave our premises. However, I will take every precaution to pack your candles so that they arrive to you in perfect condition.

How long does shipping take?

We typically have a 4-5 day lead time from the time that your order is placed to when it is shipped. On average, USPS priority shipping is received within 3-4 days from the day that we ship. Ground shipping (which is also the cheapest through UPS) takes 5-7 days to reach you, depending on your location. Often, orders can be received even earlier. If you need your order quickly, you can always send me a convo for expedited shipping.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs are determined automatically online by the shipping weight and your location. The average is $5-8 for small orders, $10-13 for medium orders and $16-25 for larger orders. I do not charge any "handling" charges on top of the shipping. Unless otherwise specified, I ship USPS with delivery confirmation. If you prefer me to ship UPS, please let me know and I will be happy to (please note that shipping quotes will be adjusted for UPS rates).

What is your refund/return policy?

If you have a defective product, return it to me and I will make you a new candle.
If your package is unopened and never burned, I will refund you 100%
I will not refund or allow a return if you do not like the scent or color.

My candle is smoking or has black soot, why is this?

No candle is completely soot free. Make sure that you are not burning your candle in a draft. Any draft will make your candle flicker and smoke. Also ensure that there is enough air space around your candle.

Why has the wick moved?

Untrimmed wicks can veer off center, after extinguishing use a metal spoon to reposition the wick while the wax is still soft.

Any tips for burning the candle?

When it comes to soy candles, it is recommended that you give the candle a "memory burn." Which means that for every inch in diameter of your container, that you should burn the candle for one hour. Our 8 oz. quilted container jars are 2.5 inches in diameter, so you should burn it for the first time for 2.5 hours to establish a full melt pool , which increases the scent throw. If you skip this step, the candle will "core down" or "tunnel" and you will not achieve a proper scent throw. At the same time, the maximum burn time (per use) for a container candle is an hour per inch in diameter of the container.

What do I do if my body butter is grainy or melted when it arrives?
Body butter can do strange things due to weather conditions. When it's too warm, it can melt and re-solidify with a grainy texture. If your body butter is melted when it arrives, place it in the refrigerator until it cools. If it feels grainy, place it in the microwave for one minute and then place it into the refrigerator until it cools.

Do you sell wholesale?
Yes, I do. Please send me a convo for more information!
