Playing with jewelry isn't just for little girls!

Like most little girls, I can remember raiding my mom's jewelry box. Brooches, necklaces and earrings that held colorful stones and shiny pearls were mesmerizing! Then, when the teen years rolled around, it was time to start my own collection. Big earrings and bracelets were the norm (it was the late '70s!). I've always been attracted to unique pieces.

Some women are known for having a signature piece of jewelry. The only piece that would be such for me was a gold wrist watch I received from my grandparents when I graduated from 8th grade. I wore that watch every day until it would run no more. It was because of that watch that I requested a yellow gold engagement ring when my husband and I started discussing marriage. While I no longer have that watch, I still wear a yellow gold wedding ring set-probably one of just a handful of women I know who have yellow gold rings!

I enjoy buying clothes (probably enjoy it too much!) and I always looked for the "perfect" earrings, necklace or bracelet to wear with a new outfit. I got tired of seeing the same old thing in every store and hated the fact that affordable pieces were mass produced. After watching a vendor at a craft fair make bracelets, I realized I could learn to do this-so I did. Simple beading at first. Learning about stones and clasps and styles. Slowly I've developed my skills, and I have more I want to learn as well.

Every woman wants to own something that is just hers alone. However, custom made one of a kind pieces can be expensive. But they don't have to be! Unique pieces of jewelry can belong to any woman-and should! Accessorizing an outfit, whether it is for work or a special event, should be as much fun as picking out the outfit. Jewelry should fit your personality-not the personality of millions of other women wearing mass produced pieces.

I enjoy designing pieces that range from a simple strand of unique beads to statement pieces that are bold and eye-catching. Wire wrapping has enabled me to ensure that each piece I produce is one of a kind. No two stones are the same, and the inspiration they spark in me is never the same either.

Another great thing about making these pieces-I can work with a customer to design a specific piece. Whether a customer wants a particular color, style or stone used, I welcome the opportunity to design something extra special for that person. Can I do all types of metalwork and stone setting? No, and I'll let you know if I'm not able to fulfill your needs. But I would love the opportunity to discuss with you what I can do to make you a true one-of-a-kind piece you'll enjoy wearing for years to come.

And because of all of this-I still get to play with all those shiny pearls, long chains and colorful stones!

I've enjoyed making things with my hands all my life. Embroidery, crocheting, sewing and now jewelry design. I strive to make pieces that the owner enjoys wearing-and is eye catching as well.
