Just as happy with each purchase. This was my 3rd purchase from Wirestruck. It was a birthday gift for my mom. She loved it. Good idea from you to go with a longer chain. Mom is able to slip the pendant over her head with ease. That is a great help to her as she just turned 86. Thanks again, Jen. Great service. Great product!

The pendant is stunning. Fine workmanship. The back is as beautiful as the front. I wore it out to dinner on New Year's Eve and received many compliments. Great service too. Prompt delivery and nice packaging along with a coupon for a future purchase. Of course I made another purchase. Thanks a million!

I bought the dream catcher for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She wanted me to let you know how much she loved it. She couldn't personally leave a review since she wasn't the actual purchaser. She asked me to let you know how happy she is to have received such a lovely and unique gift. I, as the purchaser, I would like to add that the service was prompt and pleasant and the jewelry nicely packaged. Of course, I admire the fine workmanship as this is the second purchase. Thanks a million!

About

Wire Weaving On My Mind

WireStruck is handmade jewelry made by me, Jen Bailey. I am self-taught from books and tutorials with no formal training in jewelry making. I have always been interested in arts and crafts but I did not start making jewelry until 2012. I first became interested in making wire jewelry after seeing a few tutorials on Pinterest. After I tried a few, I was hooked and continued to find out as much as I could about wire jewelry and wire weaving in particular. I don't really see this type of jewelry in many of the jewelry stores where I live so I had to look online. I have discovered many wire jewelry artists who have inspired me and whose talent astound me (Nicole Hanna, Lisa Barth, Delia Stone, Abby Hook, Szarka, Izzy Gumbo, Kaska, Lena Lyashevskaya, Mary Tucker, Iza Malczyk, IMNIUM, Sarah Thompson just to name a few!). Please take the time to look them up since they all do amazing work! Some of these artists sell tutorials which I’ve used in making some of my pieces.

I get great satisfaction from making wire jewelry. You start out with wire, a few pliers and maybe some beads or stones and you end up with this wearable piece of art. I make the majority of my jewelry with solid copper or sterling silver. I'm constantly daydreaming of new ways to create my jewelry. My own style and designs are emerging as I continue to learn new techniques.

My family and friends have been so supportive of my newly found passion and pushed me to start selling my jewelry. My husband in particular has not only been patient with all the time I've devoted to jewelry making, but he himself is now starting to make his own jewelry! Can't wait to see where this takes us.

Thanks for your interest!

Jewelry Care:

Do not shower, sleep, go swimming or expose the jewelry to harsh chemicals. Avoid applying hairspray, perfumes or lotions onto the jewelry. Do not clean the jewelry with an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner.

Copper jewelry will naturally oxidize or patina with wear and use. My pieces are not treated to prevent this natural oxidizing. To clean copper pieces, soak for 30 seconds in a few Tbsp. of Worcestershire Sauce, rinse in warm water and allow to dry completely before storing in an air tight container/bag which will help minimize oxidation.

Sterling Silver will also oxidize with wear and use. To clean Sterling Silver pieces rub a small drop of Dawn dishwashing detergent on surface, rinse in warm water, pat dry and allow to dry completely before storing in an air tight container/bag which will help minimize oxidation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to clean my copper jewelry?

The easiest way to clean your copper jewelry is to put your piece in a small dish/jar and add just enough Worcestershire Sauce to cover it. Gently swish it around for a minute. I know it sounds weird but you will be AMAZED how well this works. Then rinse in warm water. Allow to completely dry and store in an air tight container or bag to minimize oxidation.
In addition, copper will age or patina with wear and use, and is not treated to prevent this natural oxidizing process. To avoid patina you can scrub your natural copper creations gently with a fine steel wool pad (0000, available at any hardware store), once a month or as needed, dependent upon the amount of wear the piece experiences. Rinse, dry and store in air tight container.

Will my skin turn green from wearing copper jewelry?

Maybe. There are plenty of people that can wear copper jewelry regularly and it does not turn their skin green. However some people, especially those who eat a lot of acidic foods, notice their skin may turn green from wearing copper. This is also known as oxidation when copper reacts with oxygen in the air, sweat and skin oils, creating a green layer of copper carbonate. Relax, it is harmless and nothing you should be worried about. Most likely you're not allergic to the copper, very few people are. Keeping your jewelry clean and dry will help prevent the oxidation from turning your skin green.
