I ordered one for a friend for Christmas at the last minute and April worked on it nonstop in leaps and bounds to get it to me in time. The quality of the work is so beautiful. A lot of love goes into her pieces. Thanks April!!!

I ordered a pillow dress this summer for my 18 month old daughter and just recently purchased two custom pillows for Christmas presents. I must say that April did a fabulous job with each of my orders and I am a happy customer! You can tell that April puts in a lot of time and thought into her creations - especially choosing the perfect buttons in all sizes and styles and then figuring out how to best place them in the lettering. Thank you April! I look forward to ordering from you again!

About

Hours of late-night button sewing...

One day while browsing some blogs, I came across one housewife's idea for making a monogrammed pillow using buttons. I decided to try it, and made a set for one of my friends. When relatives and acquaintances saw the photos I posted on Facebook, everyone told me I should make them to sell! At first I declined to do so, because it took me many MANY hours to complete the ones I'd made as a gift, and with an infant daughter I just didn't see how I would have the time to do it! However, I did send out an email to a few friends telling them that I might make some to sell if anyone was interested.

A few months later I received an email from a friend of a friend, who had a huge button collection that had been passed down to her by her mother. She wanted a way to really commemorate her mom and the buttons and thought making pillows for the family members would be a great way to do it! She commissioned me to make her 6 button monogram pillows plus a few more plain pillows for her livingroom! Only able to work at night after the baby was asleep, I spent an estimated 70 hours initially making those first few pillows. It was lots of trial and error, lots of ripping out and starting over, and TONS of pricking my fingers with my sewing needle.

However, that experience really opened up my eyes to how much I enjoyed crafting these hand-made items, and it gave me lots of examples and the funds I needed to buy some basic supplies and open my etsy store!

Although some days I get burned out and never want to lay eyes on another button, I always fall in love with each and every item that I make. SO much time and literal physical handywork goes into everything I make and I feel like I'm mailing away a little piece of my heart, each time I box them up and ship them off.

I LOVE knowing that something I made can change the feel of someone's home and give them a unique conversation piece.

And my FAVORITE moments are when my, now 2 year old, daughter joins in the fun. She loves to "help" mommy and it warms my heart to spend this time with her "working" by my side.

Thanks to everyone who supports this industry!

Originally from Florida but Charleston is my home. I love making things. Whether it's sewing, baking, painting or piecing together random crafts, I'm obsessed! Especially if it involves buttons!
