As a product of the Baby-Boomer generation, I found myself surrounded by iconic images of the times. As a child I enjoyed the Pop Culture of my generation and as an adult, I have become an avid collector of those magical days-gone-by. In Art school, I recognized all my favorite themes in the visual vocabulary of the Pop Art movement and jumped head-first journey into that world.
I enjoy the graphicness of everyday objects we take for granted, and draw my artistic influences from vintage advertising art, antique tintype photography, Pop Art and contemporary popular culture.
For over 25 years I operated my successful ceramics studio, creating hand painted Art-Pottery while raising my small family, doing laundry and feeding the dog! In my down-time, I taught myself photography and began manipulating images to create whimsical scenarios with a timeless quality. I first introduced my Story Prints as a collection of Giclee prints.
I begin my process by photographing textures, people, objects and whatever I need to build my image. I also draw from my extensive collection of 19 century tin type photographs which I have gathered over the past 30 years. I print on Metallic Pearlesence Archival paper to give it that antique, tintype feel. The medium perfectly mirrors the emotional tone of the image!
This year I won a 1st Prize in the Print Category from the Open Art Miami International Contemporary Art Competition and my work will be featured during Art Basel in Miami.
I also have been lucky to be the Featured Artist at SURREALISM.com as well as at Surrealism.co.uk in Great Britain.

5 out of 5 starsThis bag is perfect. I wasn't expecting the quality to be great. I am surprised it didn't cost more. Seriously LOVE this bag. The adjustable strap is a nice added touch. My only wish was Joanne signed the bag.

"And I think to myself, what a wonderful world" ....................................................... Louis Armstrong
As a product of the Baby-Boomer generation, I found myself surrounded by iconic images of the times. As a child I enjoyed the Pop Culture of my generation and, as an adult, I have become an avid collector of those magical days-gone-by.
When in art school, I recognized all my favorite themes in the visual vocabulary of the Pop Art movement and I then began my head-first journey into that world. I enjoy the graphicness of everyday objects we take for granted, and draw my artistic influences from comic book art of the 60s and 70s, vintage advertising art, antique tintype photography, Pop Art, popular music, TV and films, and Mid Century cultural icons.
For over 25 years I operated a successful ceramics studio and eventually discovered the technique of decalcomania. I began printing and designing one- of-a-kind creations on altered antique plates. I create each individual design for an appropriate plate, marrying the image to the style and character of the china. They offer the perfect canvas to combine my appreciation of the old with the new. Retro, Fab 50 designs are the most fun! Finally, the pieces are baked in my kiln at a low cone temperature and voila! What results is a collection of FUN and COMFORTING images! The smartness of up-cycling appeals to me as does the 'outsider-artiness' of re-purposing abandoned and unloved china plates into 'mock antiques'.
I hope you will enjoy my way-cool designs which are simultaneously hip as well as nostalgic .
PEACE OUT !
