About

Purveyors of Elflocks™, Fancies & Fripperies for Faerie Folk & Festival Frolickers alike

I've always loved dressing up and creating costumes, dying my hair fantastic colours and playing with different looks using hair extensions. Over the years I've experimented with various types of synthetic hair but often found after dancing the night away the weight of the dreads would leave me with a very sore scalp. Looking for alternatives I began using wool, making my very first pair of Elflocks over a decade ago. I was delighted with how light they were, how easy to put in and take out, and the gorgeous colour combinations that were available.

I've since honed my technique of making and installing Elflocks, creating a product which will totally transform your look quickly and easily. Elflocks are tried and tested. They stay in all day and night, through festivals, dancing, playing and performing. Many of my customers are musicians or performance artists looking for eye catching stage wear that looks amazing but which doesn't weigh them down. They're also perfect for cosplayers, festival goers and anyone wanting to add a little colourful faerie glamour to their look.

I'm a firm believer in the power of 'Dressing Up' - that joyful self-expression that comes from choosing to wear something which really allows you to shine. This can mean taking on a new character for a performance or event, but more importantly, dressing up can help entice out the 'real' you that is so often hidden away inside. We can feel restricted in the way we dress by society and family expectations or work. Giving yourself permission to dress up is very empowering! Elflocks are an easy way to join in the dressing up fun and really complete an outfit, but without the commitment and hassle that usually comes with having fancy hair styles. As one lovely customer put it "I finally have the hair of my dreams!".

Woodland Wild is also an outlet for my handmade, limited edition knitted accessories and other treasures - all of which are inspired by Faerie and nature. I do hope you'll find something to tickle your fancy!

I'm honoured that my Elflocks have been featured in a number of wonderful projects:
* Spanish singer-songwriter Priscilla Hernandez wears custom white Elflocks in the video for 'In the Mist'

*Short Elflocks were born after a request from Felicity Fyr Le Fay of Cirque des Fees, who wanted a pair to wear while performing on trapeze

*And one of my most exciting commissions to date is providing the Elflocks for Titania and her faeries for Stamford Shakespeare Company's 2013 performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shipping
I aim to send in-stock items within 3 working days. Please allow around 4 weeks for commissions – you will be advised at the time of ordering approximately how long it will take for me to make your item.

Woodland Wild uses Royal Mail for most deliveries, shipped to the buyer's address listed on Etsy. I’ll happily post to anywhere in the world but please be aware that delivery times can vary quite wildly from country to country and I am unable to guarantee delivery dates. You are also liable for any customs/import charges.

Parcels sent in the UK over £20 are sent tracked and insured as standard. For a tracked and insured service on International orders please choose the Tracked & Insured Shipping upgrade when purchasing.

Once an item is out of my hands I cannot be held responsible for lost, delayed or damaged parcels. I will however do everything within my power to help you make a claim for compensation with the postal service.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want my customers to be 100% happy with their purchase.
If for some reason you are not, please contact me within 3 working days after receiving the item. If your item is eligible for return it must be sent back unused and in original packaging.

A refund for the cost of the item will be given once I have received the item. Any postage costs are non-refundable. Also the cost of return postage is the responsibility of the buyer.

Please note, insurance on returned packages is highly recommended. If a returned package is uninsured and subsequently lost or damaged, I am not responsible and cannot give a refund in this event.

I regret that I cannot accept returns on sale items or custom orders.
Additional policies and FAQs
Is my hair suitable for Elflocks?
I recommend your hair is at least shoulder length, or chin length if it is thick or curly. Ideally you need to be able to put your hair up into two buns high up on your head. Full instructions are provided with every set of Elflocks. Elflocks are very voluminous and cover hair easily, so you need not worry about colour matching. They are also very lightweight and once installed correctly will not pull on the hair or scalp.
If your hair is shorter, you can experiment with using scarves and clips to help secure your Elflocks. Many customers with short hair have successfully worn Elflocks, it just takes a little extra work! You could also try my clip-in mini Elflocks to give a flash of faery glamour!

Care of Elflocks
Elflocks are made using 100% wool and so should be cared for as you would any other woollen item. Generally they need no more than an airing now and then. If they get wet please let them dry thoroughly before storing. If you do happen to get them dirty they can be gently handwashed in cool water using a detergent suitable for woollens. Do not rub too hard as this may cause the ‘locks to start felting together. Squeeze out as much water as possible by rolling in a clean towel and allow to dry thoroughly. When not being worn I find they are best stored hanging up – I store mine on a hanger in my wardrobe with a lavender bag to keep moths at bay.

Do you take commissions?
Yes, time permitting! Elflocks and knitted items can be recreated in your choice of colour scheme, and headdresses may also be made to order, depending on what you need. Please contact me to discuss your requirements. If you wish to go ahead I will set up a custom listing on my shop and we can take it from there.

One last thing:
I do have cats, and while I obviously don’t let them roll around in my wool, there may be the odd cat hair which makes its way into my stash. Any one who is acutely allergic should be aware, and err on the side of caution if necessary.

**Disclaimer**
It is only Woodland Wild who make Elflocks. If you see other sellers making dread falls/wigs and calling them ‘Elflocks’ please be aware they are not my product and the quality may differ from genuine Woodland Wild Elflocks.
