About

The Evolution of Woolen Moss

Wanting to do something more meaningful and sustainable after years of sewing for the high end home interior industry, I established Woolen Moss in 2009. I began by making clothing from all natural materials for myself and realized I could do the same for others through Etsy.

My love of wool goods began with the start of Woolen Moss Farm in 2006. The vision of raising all my own wool from the sheep on my own farm evolved into a pursuit of relationships with other wool growers and textile producers, sourcing only high quality wool fabrics for my clothing.

Knowing that conventional cotton is the most highly sprayed crop in the world, I also began carrying organic cotton fabrics blended with bamboo for summer garments. This step propelled me into a year round thriving handmade clothing business.

As there is controversy about the use of bamboo in fabrics, I am happy to address this issue with you upon request. I have done a vast amount of research on this, and it is my conclusion that the pros far outweigh the cons when considering it's impact on the planet, on mill workers, and on the wearer. Please feel free to inquire if you'd like my two cents.

Today Woolen Moss continues to be a small operation. Being a good steward of your planet means taking good care of yourself too. The idea behind Woolen Moss is that feeling good and looking good are tied together. I believe that moving freely, feeling good about who you are and "being the change you wish to see in the world" can all start with taking good care of yourself and your family. Good, clean, flattering garments are a lovely way to start.

WELCOME!
Hello, and welcome to Woolen Moss! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll find just the right item here, and don't be afraid to ask for special requests. All of my items are made to order. When necessary, please specify size according to the chart or provide measurements for your unique body size and shape.

MATERIALS
All of my textiles are sourced from reliable, eco conscious companies that offer only the finest organic textiles. Also, all organic fabrics are dyed with fiber reactive, low-impact dyes that leave as little impression on this earth as possible. I've also chosen to include some spectacular 100% wool non-organic fabrics as limited edition garments, due to their uniqueness and beauty. My hope is that each garment is long-lasting and therefore adds to the cycle of waste as little as possible.

SIZING
When ordering, a general size can be chosen from the chart listed with each item, but more specific measurements will ensure the best fit. The following is a list of measurements and how to take them:
BUST ~ at the widest point, over your bra, not your bra size
WAIST ~ just above the hip bones, or where you like your garment to rest
HIPS ~ the widest point
INSEAM ~ from the crotch seam to the bottom hem
ARM ~ from the shoulder seam to your wrist hem
BICEP ~ around your upper arm
SHOULDER ~ shoulder to shoulder across your back

MULTIPLE ITEM ORDERS
Most of my pieces can be ordered in multiples, or in different colors unless I specify something is one-of-a-kind. Shipping is automatically discounted upon checkout.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Other Method
Payment
Payment should be made immediately upon checkout. I accept Paypal and credit cards through Direct Checkout. The "other" option is for gift certificates.

New York State residents will be charged 4% sales tax, which will be added at checkout through PayPal.
Shipping
Depending on the time of year, I ship orders within 2-4 weeks of payment to the address you supply Etsy upon checkout, unless otherwise specified. I will convo you if this time frame needs to be extended for any reason.

I ship all items USPS Priority with tracking. It usually takes 2-5 business days within the US, and any where from 5-15 business days internationally (depending on your customs procedures). If you need something sooner, contact me and generally we can work something out.

I ship world-wide. Please note that all taxes, duties and customs fees associated with international shipping are the responsibility of the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please contact me if you have concerns with your order. The quality of my work is important to me, and I will work with you to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. Please expect that garments may fit each body differently. I will consider an exchange (only one per purchase) along with a 15% restocking fee within the first 7 days if a flaw or misunderstanding has occurred, but generally small alterations can solve any minor fit issues you may have. I'm always available to discuss this with you! No cash refunds available. All shipping costs are non-refundable.
