Announcement
I'm flaky at the moment due to bereavement, I'll be back when I'm in a better place.
I'm Woolforbrains on Ravelry and you can visit me on my blog at www.woolforbrains.net and see what I do with the wool that stays home.
I've had a few years away from the shop and from hard core wool appreciation. I'm now attempting to downsize the craft space so intend to stock less fibre and more finished items (they take up less room). I will not be dyeing any more fibre for sale and I plan to spin my way through what I have listed and turn it all into yarn. If there's something here you like then you need to get to it before I do.
While I've been away the powers that be have nuked all my carefully written and photographed process description so that my be a while returning.

5 out of 5 starsThis is totally lovely in person, as well as in the picture. Lots of room to grow, which is what I was looking for. I'm a knitter with no time to knit, and I'm very pleased with the quality of this sweater. Thanks!

5 out of 5 starsI purchased this bag for my mother. When I handed it to her and asked what I should write in the review, she said, "Amazing product. Great shape and very well-crafted. Beautiful colours." I agree.

"plain weave"?
Fron fibre to finished
Much of my work features my handspun yarn, I think that the randomness of it gives life to the finished piece. I started off as a knitter then I learned to spin to be able to get the yarns that I wanted to knit but could not buy. That lead to dyeing and carding fibre to get exactly the effects I wanted. I learned to weave when I thought that I was going to have to stop knitting (what would I do with all that yarn?) but it turned out that my hand condition was not the knit stopper that I feared. It was all for the best, there was a big learning curve with weaving that I might not have attempted if my hand hadn't been forced.
I do it all, dye the wool, turn the handle on the carder, spin, weave, twist the fringes and write the names on the envelopes. The only hands in use are mine and I do only have the two of them. This is the reason why everything you see in the shop is ready to go now. Life is too short to be stressing about deadlines.
As my friends and family are now fully equipped with all the handspun, handwoven items they will ever need my hands are now busy making things that I don't need as gifts. l like the idea that they will go to someone far away, I'll never get to go to these far flung places but my work will. You get the first pick of the fibre that I dye for myself, I keep the dyer's mistakes and those colour combinations that turn out not so well as I imagined.

I trained as a chemist and spent my career as an accountant. I was told that I only saw things in black and white but the reality was that there was an infinite range of shades of grey. I left that life behind, now I get to play with all the colours.
Shop policies
I am a spinner, weaver and knitter and with those I know what I'm doing. Felting is outside my skill set, if you're buying fibre for that purpose you can take it that you know more about it than I do.

The cost of overseas combined postage is a bit of a guessing game because the weight bands are smaller and I don't have standard weight items. If I've overcharged you by more than 50p I will refund it.
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm happy to spin fibre into yarn for you, I'd rather not spin laceweight or three ply sock yarn because it's such a huge time commitment. That's not to say I won't do it but you'd better be sitting down when I tell you how much it will cost you.
