Announcement   Thanks for visiting Wooly Wool of the West at NEWLAND RANCH on the high plains and grasslands of southwest Saskatchewan, Canada.

Looks like cold weather ahead! Time to bring out your spinning, knitting and other warm and wooly projects! I know you are thinking “show me the fleeces”! You may not see fleeces in the store but there are many lovely ones in the wool shed.

Since my farm animals and their care take priority, I am outdoors alot. Please feel free to convo me about finding a fleece perfect for your next project or any wool question I may be able to help you with. I use evenings to reply to customer convos.

Or keep checking back to see if I’ve found time to add something to the store!

☺️🐑🐏🐐

I use my Wool Judging Certification to methodically appraise each fleece after shearing. After its evaluation (with detailed notes and photos) each fleece is put into storage until I list it in the store or you ask for something specific!
Convo me with questions or to customize an order for your next project!

See our information and photos in the sellers section of this store 😊

About

There's something wonderful about sustainable farming, raising sheep and improving our natural environment.

When I was semi-retiring from the world of computers and digital design, I moved my office out to the country to join my husband. During that time our sustainable farming included grass fed Angus beef and hay crops. I soon found these cattle were far to large for me to handle. I soon got a flock of Corriedale sheep and my life changed in so many way.

Shortly after their first shearing, I realized I wanted to keep all the lovely wool for knitting, so I began learning to wash, card and spin it. Classes in weaving, wool judging and wool classing have rounded out my knowledge.

Over the years the flock has had many breeds and wool types added. Our breeding programs have developed purebreds and crosses with unique wool characteristics. Selling fleeces and wool products has helped our farm become more sustainable, and we strive to give our farm animals a healthy and happy life.

If you don't see what you are looking for, please ask. My friends with flocks are happy to share their wool too. Discover the big, wide world of sheep breeds close to home. Canadian sheep breeders grow some of the most extraordinary wool in the world! Convo me - there’s nothing I enjoy more than helping someone discover the unique characteristics of wool!
