Before I create my illustration, I sample and take notes on a craft beer's (or cider's) appearance, flavor, and aroma.
-
Then, I create a pen and ink drawing based on my notes ... though sometimes I have a backup pint on hand as a reminder.
-
When I'm finished drawing, I scan the illustration into my laptop and I color it digitally in Illustrator.
-
My pal Dallas is always there to motivate me! My hubs Matt (not pictured) is also a huge help when it comes to sampling.
-
And this is me at my first vendor show, at Metro Chicago. I was PRET-TY excited!
If a picture's worth a thousand words, then my shop is Worth 1000 Beers!
Hi! My name is MC Johnsen, and I’m an illustrator, designer, and homebrewer.
Worth 1000 Beers began as a blog where I could express two of my passions–illustration and craft beer–together. Through the blog I taste a variety of beers, visit breweries, or attend beer-centric events and visually record the experience with some kind of illustration. I usually draw the aromas and flavors that I perceive but sometimes I’ll draw a cute animal enjoying a brew. This store is a collection of prints of those illustrations, plus a few original surprises on occasion.
Cheers, and thanks for visiting my shop!
