I searched Etsy for a long time to find an artist that could do a custom portrait of our Frenchie, Scott. Greg's shop, WoundedWood, stood out right away. After corresponding with Greg about my ideas and Scott's personality, I knew he was the perfect artist for the job. I was right. And Greg's talent is just the beginning of why we are so delighted. Greg is a great listener and communicator, a genuinely good person, a guy who totally gets the connection between people and dogs, and most importantly a true craftsperson who can translate a living, breathing dog personality into a permanent tribute piece. We are so honored and touched to have our portrait from Greg. Of the hundred+ Etsy transactions I've had over the years, I'd easily say this was the best one ever. We love WoundedWood!

About

Finding beauty in the discarded.

I began making art and craft from found and reclaimed materials in the 80's in Austin, Texas. I was earning my living at that time remodeling old homes and I would routinely salvage some of the materials that I was removing from homes that were built in the 40's. I began to use this scrap to create sculptural art pieces, mostly for fun.

In the 2000's I started making more objects- birdhouses, furniture and other furnishings for our home. When I found out about Etsy I was motivated to create more pieces and try to sell them. I did my first wood-burning, a portrait of a friend's dog, and that has turned into a popular Etsy seller for me.

I am a passionate proponent of living small and conserving resources. There is a wealth of beautiful materials that are discarded every day. Using reclaimed materials is a practice that all of us will soon become more familiar with.

Wounded Wood creates unique and one-of-a-kind art, crafts and furnishings. We use reclaimed materials for most all of our creations and we search for materials that will make a simple piece extraordinary and give it "soul". There is no mass production and no two pieces are ever alike.
