About

Devoted to Fibre!

My passion is spinning and knitting; particularly spinning wool and fibre from sheep that originate from the British Isles. I studied textile history at degree and post-graduate level which lead to a career in teaching art, design and technology in secondary schools. Teaching students to dye and use the fibre in class was a joy that sustained throughout my career. Now I've left teaching, I'm using my skills to bring you yarns and fibre that showcase the most interesting ideas.

My shop is designed to entice you into knitting hand-dyed yarns for special projects. From everyday sock yarn to more exotic blends, highlighting the skill of spinner, dyer and knitter or weaver alike. I've been advocating the spinning our more rare breeds of native sheep fleece for many years now in classes. The range of fleece offered will vary from easy to spin preparations to something more challenging. The purpose is to enable you to develop your fleece knowledge in order to spin the yarn you want.

Payment
You can pay for your order via Paypal, or using Etsy's Direct Checkout with a credit or debit card.

If you pay via e-check then I can't send the items until after the e-check has cleared, if it is an international e-check then this can take more than a week.

Shipping
Parcels are only sent out on Mondays and Thursday due to the opening hours of my small local post office. I live in a tiny village in a really remote location and it is not possible to send orders outside of these times as it involves a round trip of hours and much diesel, which isn't a pollution friendly thing to do.

I send all regular orders below £100 in value using a regular non-tracked service. Orders over this amount are sent using a tracked service at no extra cost.
______________________________________________________________

I charge postage at as close to cost as possible.
Shipping will automatically be combined and discounted when you add items to your cart.
In general, for items weighing 100g postage is as follows-
UK £3.20, additional items no extra cost
Europe £3.70, additional items cost £1.40 each
Everywhere Else £4.75, additional items £2.50 each
_____________________________________________________________

I currently send all UK mail using a 48hour service, most items arrive 2 days after posting, but it can take slightly longer.

Please allow up to 15 working days for UK mail from dispatch for an item to arrive, 20 working days for European mail, 25 working days for all other international mail. In my experience post often arrives far quicker than this, but I can't report an item as missing with Royal Mail until after these periods of time have elapsed.

If it remains missing after this time I will do my best to replace your order or will offer you a refund.
_____________________________________________________________

International orders over certain values (this varies depending on your country) may be charged customs fees. This is out of my control, and any fees that the items incur are at the buyers expense. I am more than happy to split parcels so they come in under the customs limit, please send me a message with your purchase and I will let you know if you need to pay any extra postage. It is illegal for me to mark parcels as a "gift".

Please check that what you are purchasing will be allowed through customs in your country, if items are returned to me due to being refused by customs I will refund the cost of the item, but not the shipping fees.

I print out the invoice generated by Etsy to use as your shipping address. Please make sure this address is correct. If you need it sent to another address, please send me a message at the time of purchasing.
Additional policies and FAQs
Colour varies from computer to computer. I try to represent the shades as accurately as I can, some shades, particularly reds and purples, are notoriously hard to photograph. For the most part I don't edit my photos at all, apart from cropping them. I occasionally adjust photos to make sure that what I see on screen matches the true colour of the fibre.

I'm more than happy to do a custom blend or dye job if you have particular colours and fibres in mind. Please get in touch to discuss your ideas.

If you like the fibre but don't spin I can also do custom spinning of specific blends, again, just get in touch.

All items are sold subject to UK laws and legislation.
