Announcement   Hello and welcome to writingfyeah, a line of funny tees, tanks, totes, and prints for writers, book lovers, and anyone who needs a hug!

The shop is run by us: Sofiya Alexandra and Courtney Kocak, two weird betches who are also writing partners. In May 2015, we started the parody Instagram account @writingfyeah, devoted to misquoting famous authors, as a way to blow off some steam in between writing comedy scripts. The idea for this store was born shortly thereafter when we thought, “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if we could fund some of the projects we want to film on our own, without Kickstarter or selling our bodies, like in a sustainable way?” Well, the answer better be YES because we opened this thing anyway.

The merch is modeled by our talented friends, who are also in comedy. We chose them because they are hilarious and they inspire us.

We also care about women, so a portion of all proceeds will be donated to WriteGirl, a Los Angeles non-profit dedicated to empowering at-risk girls through creativity and self-expression. An incredible 100% of the organization's graduating seniors have entered college, many on full or partial scholarships.

If you would like to buy any of our tees and tanks in a size that isn’t currently available, please message us and we’ll be more than happy to fulfill your request.

As a non-hugger, this is the best tote ever, except for the other Poe/Hug tote, which I also bought, because I couldn't decide. I could give one away, but why would I do that, when I have so many tote-able items to carry around in them?

About

Welcome to our store!

It’s run by us: Sofiya Alexandra and Courtney Kocak, two weird bitches who are also writing partners.

All our stuff is made in America because we care about fair labor practices and investing in our country.

We also care about women, so a portion of all proceeds will be donated to WriteGirl, a Los Angeles non-profit dedicated to empowering at-risk girls through creativity and self-expression. An incredible 100% of the organization's graduating seniors have entered college, many on full or partial scholarships.

MEET THE TEAM

Jennifer Bischoff
Jenny designs most of our merch, in addition to our Instagram @writingfyeah. Her special skills include making our dumb jokes look amazing and deciphering our cracked out late-night emails. Fun fact: she’s also the sister of the equally talented Stephanie Beatriz, who is one of our models and Rosa Diaz on FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Michelle Alexis Newman
Michelle shot all the photography you see on our site, perfectly capturing the comedic essence of our hilarious comedian friends/models. Her amazing project Open Mic, a portrait series pairing comedians with one of their original jokes, was recently featured on Slate. Scope out more of her delicious eye candy on Instagram @michellealexis.

Greg Borenstein
Greg rendered our brilliant Virginia Woolf and Edgar Allan Poe drawings, and that’s not even the thing that he’s best at! He’s a musician, technologist, and teacher, with an eclectic work history – most recently as a technology consultant on FOX’s Minority Report. Also as an MIT grad, he’s for sure the smartest member of our team (no offense Jenny and Michelle, that includes us). For cool tech tidbits follow him on Twitter @atduskgreg.
