I ordered these millefiori beads to use as space filler in mosiac. It only took two days from placing the order to it arriving, and they are exactly the size I needed. Thank you, Mosiac Gourmet!

About

We still make stained glass in Appalachia!

I have a lifelong interest in stained glass, and am lucky enough to live within 75 miles of two of the only remaining stained glass makers in America, one of which is 110 years old and the oldest continuously-producing stained glass factory in the United States. West Virginia has been home to over 500 glass factories over the last hundred or so years but sadly, only a handful remain.

When I left a 9-to-5 job in 2001, I began to sell sheets of stained glass on eBay. One of my customers suggested I try cutting some of it into mosaic tiles, and the rest is history. I buy my glass directly from the factories. My shop currently occupies one of the bedrooms in my house. This is where my cutting table, computer, printer, and business files live. My window faces west, and I'm often able to enjoy a beautiful sunset as I cut glass. I enjoy regular visits from a wide variety of birds, and often see White-Tailed Deer right outside my window. (Oh, and half my basement is filled with big sheets of glass and literally tons of grout!)

I love going to the factories and shopping for glass, digging around warehouses, talking to the workers and watching them do their magic. If you've never seen people make sheet glass or blown glass, you're missing out. It's absolutely fascinating! Here's how they make the iridescent glass I sell: There are a range of kilns on the factory floor, each containing a different color of glass. Workers use a long-handled iron dipper (six feet long or more!) to scoop molten glass out. They mix it together with pitchfork-like tools, and it looks like glowing Silly Putty. Then they send it through the rollers. When it comes out the other side, it looks like a glowing sheet of flat fire. A thin layer of vaporized metal is then sprayed onto one side of the glass and it is sent to the annealing chamber to cool. This awesome glass is highly iridescent, and full of fire and shimmering rainbows.

I live in West Virginia, which has a rich glass making heritage. My lifelong interest in stained glass led me to mosaics. I love producing tiles from locally made glass, and I've also got LOTS of colors of grout, some of which I custom-mix.

Shipping
I will ship to the address you have listed with Etsy, so please make sure it is correct before placing your order. If you want an order shipped to another address, you need to contact me BEFORE placing your order. Afterwards may be too late - I often ship orders within hours of when they're received.

I ship Monday through Friday. With the occasional exception of custom orders, I ship within 3 business days. (This does not include weekends or holidays.) I use US Postal Service only - First Class or Priority, depending on the size of your order. Packages usually take 2 to 3 business days to reach you from the time they are mailed. You'll receive an automated notification with tracking information when I ship your order.

PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT OFFER OVERNIGHT OR EXPEDITED SHIPPING because these services would require me to make a long trip. I live in a rural area, and am about 20 miles from the nearest Post Office, UPS Store and FedEx drop-off, so this option is not feasible for me. Thanks for understanding.

I use recycled shipping supplies whenever possible, always clean.
