Fire and Fluff: The history.
Fire and Fluff actually started in 1993. I learned to spin that year and it began the journey to where I am at today.
In 1994 I bought Angora Rabbits, in 1995 I added sheep, 1997 I started a different homebased fibre business that I sold to my fibre partner and sister-in-law in 2004 when my first marriage dissolved. I then spent a few years working for others, while missing the challenges and freedom of being self employed.
By 2008 I had added lampwork beadmaking to my list of crafting activities and began selling some beads at local events and sometimes on eBay.
Then in 2011 I became quite ill and was not able to work in a more regimented workplace, the joy of an intestinal issue!
That same year my second husband suggested I reconsider what I was doing workwise and the journey of Fire and Fluff began in earnest. From selling lampwork beads and finished jewelry, to processing a few fleeces for my sister-in-law and myself to processing for others, to including dealerships with Ashland Bay for more fibre variety to adding Spinolution and Babes spinning wheels to who knows for sure where next...The adventure keeps going:)

We also have a Hyperwallet account if you are interested in that payment option.
Ontario residents will be billed HST (13%) and other Canadian residents will be billed GST (5%). This will show in the shopping cart and is not billed on postage.
Any customs or import duties charged on out of country orders are the buyers responsibility. I send frequently to the US and have yet to hear from any repeat buyers that it is an issue. I have also sold to France, Australia, England, Japan, Spain and Wales without any issues with duties on either fibre or wood items.
Yes I know this raises the postage cost and I hate it too. However as a small business trying to offer first rate service I can not continue to resend second orders to replace missing first ones and stay in business. The cost of that practice was getting prohibitive.
Shipping is through Canada Post by tracked packet. This will offer tracking, delivery confirmation and insurance for up to $100. If more insurance then $100 is required then an additional cost will apply. And yes I know this raises the cost of shipping a whack. For now though there seems to be no reliable 3rd party insurer who works with Canada Post for a better fee.
Website to check your rate for shipping is http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/business/findARate?execution=e2s1
For 500 grams of fibre I can usually get it to go in an envelope that is 25cm long by 23 cm wide by 5 cm thick. Final weight with envelope and stickers is about 540 gm.
The courier services, such as fedex, are not close enough to me to be practical.
We do our best to keep shipping as low as possible while offering us all protection in the event of a shipping lose.
Rates as shown in all listings are set at the most I may have to pay for each item and country combination. I never know where an order will come from so I have to presume they will come from the most remote location in each country. PLEASE ask for a personal quote for your exact items and postage to your exact postal code or zip.
I do not mind setting up custom listings at all.
Shipping and insurance carrier suggestions are always welcome.
Please bear in mind many services offered in the US do not apply to Canada.

Additional policies and FAQs
If you see an item you like, but not in a colour combination you want, email. Custom orders/listings are welcome.
Remember jewelry and bead items are handmade one at a time, including the glass beads. Please allow for production time when you order. Most orders for beads can be fulfilled in less then 4 weeks production and shipping time, email to be sure for big events or large numbers of an item. eg 50 or more of a bead style.
All glass beads are ANNEALED in a digitally controlled kiln for years of beauty and enjoyment and cleaned with a rotary tool before shipping. Given they find glass items 1000's of years old I expect my designs to outlast me by a long shot!
Fibre milling can take more then 20 weeks, depends on current number of orders awaiting processing. Wholesale is not available on fibre from our in-house mill at this time. Hope to change that in future...
Custom pet portraits can be arranged with Heidi, my daughter. She is a Georgian College Fine Art Student as of 2012. Email us for details.
FIBER BACKORDERS: Periodically products end up on backorder. I will advice of such asap. I run a bricks and mortar location as well as other online sales sites and attend craft fairs regularly. Should a one of a kind item sell at another venue and then be bought here before I can delist it, a full refund is issued or an alternate item of the clients choosing of equal value is send.
