Long, long ago...before there was a doctor in every village to tend the ills of townfolk, there was the village Wise Woman...some called her "witch", because her powers to heal seemed very nearly *magical*! She simply understood how to use the power of both wild and hand-grown botanicals to heal and soothe, settle and calm, even lighten the mood with the power of aromatherapy. This knowledge she acquired was passed down to her by a family member or other Wise Woman who taught her as a trusted acolyte. Some knowledge she acquired through tried-and-true experimentation.
Many who would scorn or side-step her in public for her peculiar ways, her herb-strewn hair and muddy skirts from garden work..... sought her out desperately when suddenly in pain, suffering a persistent ailment, or their child was sick with fever. Her *magic* was simply a love of and understanding of how to use Earth's plant bounty, known then, and still, as Wise Woman Ways.
A bundle of muslin-wrapped herbs was prepared, a tea or tincture mixed, a poultice tucked in leaves, a soothing balm poured in a jar, a corked bottle filled with finely pestled powders, and the seeker was sent home with instructions for use, or was cared-for near her warm hearth along with a bowl of delicious soup and a mug of herbal tea. A few coins were dropped in the Wise Woman's jar, or loaves of fresh bread or a basket of vegetables promised for the following day.....and all was in balance between caregiver and those who sought her expertise.
And Wise Woman Ways continue today.....by those who have learned the ways, or are gifted with "the knowledge". Let us gather and mix, pestle and stir, measure and chant for you! You've found Wylde Wytch Soaps, and there's a special kind of magic in our soaps!
Many of you will remember this line of soaps, a division of our Ancient Alchemy soap line! We cut back our Wylde Wytch Soap line during the pandemic due to unavoidable production constraints, but so many of you have asked us to bring it back, I decided to HERE, on Etsy, in limited production!
I hope you enjoy again, our witchily wonderful collection of Wise Woman Soaps! I've always been a firm believer that Earth provides us with EVERYTHING we need. It's up to us to educate ourselves on how to use her offerings! Or, stay in touch with those who DO know how!
