About

Wynsum Work. doo dee doo dee . . . do

Wynsum Work came to be through my love for Handmade objects. I love to make things that are functional and eye-appealing. The shop will offer a melange of items that I would like to own myself. My thought is that there might be a few people out in the world that are tickled by the same lighthearted, nostalgic, sometimes silly, and often quirky things that make me grin from ear to ear.

A very visual person, I tend to get really excited in a very winsome way when I travel to Handmade shows and see the amazing things that crafters and artists design and make. The spelling for Wynsum Work is the Old English root for winsome--wynn meaning joy.

The Handmade community in Raleigh, North Carolina is rich in diversity and endlessly inspiring. It has brought me joy. I will never forget the first time I attended The Handmade Market here in the city and walked out eyes wide open and really taken by the beauty of all I saw there.

The motivation for my design and creations support the idea that our work can winsome.

Screen printing is simply fun and I don't know many folks who do not own, and flaunt, at least one cool screen printed shirt.

I recently learned linoleum block printing through a Reduction Block Printing class at Pullen Arts Center and Wynsum Work will soon offer my block printed designs. A technique I knew I would fall in love with once given the time. Again, the inspiration came from a vendor at the Indie Craft Parade.

Photography is my passion. Not a day goes by where something doesn't grab me via light, texture, color and I am compelled to capture it.

Thank you for taking a peek at the shop and I hope it made you smile, giggle, guffaw, or something similar to that.

enJOY,
Joelle
